Default Phenom build thoughts...First build

I think ive got a pretty good idea of what combo i want to settle with but as with everything else, Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance

Im a huge multi tasker, and it will more then likely see dual 24" monitors with a dvd burning in the background, COD4 to the right with im sure a few other apps open on the left. I love speed and making things go fast so the go big or go home attitude looks like it has carried into my computer build.

Ive done some research here and definitly plan to OC this chip a little but coming from the computer i have now im sure even stock clock will be amazing to me.

Heres the setup, Ill order a part or two a week as $$ allows.

Case: APEVIA MX-PLEASURE-BK Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case......I just love this case.

If it was me i would get the 4870 instead of 2 8800GTs
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102748

cheaper if you dont count the MIRs (i dont like MIRs :P)

the 4850 is amazing and the 4870 is amazing-er

EDIT: the mobo you chose doesn't support SLI either - its an AMD chipset so only crossfire is supported

I don't think you will be able to do this with an SLI setup. If this is something you want to do, I would suggest going with a Radeon HD4870. A single card setup will allow you to do this (though you may have to game in windows mode and just maximize it on the 2nd monitor), and it should be close to the same price/performance ratio (though I haven't seen any reviews directly comparing 88GT SLI with the newer Radeons). The 790FX motherboard doesn't support SLI anyways

Other than that, everything else looks fine

Wow thats a nice video card and since its the same price as 2 8800's ill go that route.

For some reason i was under the impression that i needed 2 video cards to run 2 monitors, and in the motherboard contents it says it comes with an sli bridge?

If i wanted to add another Radeon HD4870 down the road could i?

Nope, modern video cards are going to have dual DVI outputs to run 2 monitors from the same card.
Also, I'm not sure why it says it comes with an SLI Bridge, because that motherboard doesn't even support SLI.

If you stick with that 790FX motherboard, then yes.

I have been eyeballing water cooling if needed but ive seen some heavily modded rigs here on air. Ill definitly switch if some things are gettin hot. Do you think this cooler will work well with the CPU?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118019

Ive heard good things about cooling in that case so im hoping for the best.

Why you don't get Q6600 instead of Phenom 9850 ?

Q6600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115018

Motherboard (no crossfire)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128345

Motherboard (with crossfire support)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138123

The Q6600 is cheaper, better, consumes less power and overclocks better
