I know you can put DSL (Damn-Small-Linux) on a flash drive, but don't know of any others.

I'm currently running 7 quads on flash drives. It's called the Notfred's diskless setup. All you need is a Mobo,CPU,H/S,RAM, and PSU. You will need a video card and optical to set it up, Once it's set up, you can remove the video card and optical.

Edit: Oh, and of course, you will need a flash drive.

Cool, I edited my first post and got it under $150

Would the stock AMD H/S be fine? I don't plan on doing heavy OCing, if any at all.

Yeah, if you don't plan on o/c'ing, the stock h/s is fine. You know that o/c'ing your rig will help your folding times dramatically right?

Yup, which is why I'm wondering if I should go with Intel. But then you need good RAM, and nice H/S, good motherboard and such to get a good clock, which really raises the prices.

Well, you can get a good o/c'ing board for about $50, the RAM you have is fine, the PSU should be fine, an artic cooler h/s is $32, and I think the E2180 is like $50-$60. It would be alittle more expensive, but the production would be alot better.

And I could most likely run SMP and GPU2 on the same rig with an OCed e2180...? (if I got a 2600Pro)

What's the estimated PPD on an OCed 2600Pro anyway?

What would be better...

-2 rigs, 3.0Ghz e2180's running SMP 24/7
-1 rig, 9800gtx running GPU2 24/7
