Anyone have any concerns? Not like switch to Intel or get a 4870 vs 4850 if I switch to a X2. But "Hey, the MA770 is not up to the TDP of the 9600," or "Be careful, you need an old Athlon to flash the BIOS for the Phenom!"

Thanks.

I would splurge and go for a 790X board, they are 1 step down from the flagship line

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...130172&Tpk=msi
thats only $5 more

EDIt: Also 460W should be enough unless you plan on CF in the future
and it saves you $10

I agree with you, the 790FX MSI is selling for $70 more, but just for clarification, such suggestions cannot apply in this case because of a fairly strict budget. That is, unless there is something inherently wrong with a component, please do not ask me to upgrade.

Also, that Gigabyte is the highest rated AMD motherboard on the Egg.

Thanks.

I agree, get a 790FX board, they are superior for overclocking the new Phenoms from what I hear.

Why the 9600 quad? It's the older model and not as great as beastly as the Black Editions. The 9850 is $200 which I think is a pretty good deal considering they've been known to clock to at least 3ghz fairly easily, same with the new 9950.

And as great as the new 4850-4870's are, I don't see why everyone is jumping the bandwagon with them. Go with an older 8800 series and save yourself some bones. The G92 is still a bad ass core, especially the GTS, which was going for only $150 on www.fxvideocards.com last I knew.

Also I think you could do better on finding cheaper RAM. Just a thought, I know deals spring up all the time so maybe its gone cold lately or something.

EDIT: On 2nd thought, I didn't realize just how cheap the 4800 series was for the performance they give. $300 for that combo deal isn't saving much considering most of the 4850's are about $150 after rebates and the 9600, I think, is hovering around $160.

I would personally go with a 9850BE and a cheap 8800GT or GTS.

Then use the 460W PSU which saves $10 and the mobo only costs $7 more, so you end up saving $3

@Fossil:
I am getting the 4850 and the 9600 in a bundle of $305.

@Coltsrock:
Note: $70, not $7

I see the confusion. I speak of the 790FX MSI.
Call me jaded, but I only buy high rated products from the Egg, especially motherboards. I am tired of opening a box and having issues.

I am a very difficult guy.

I know, that is why I mentioned the pricing of each individually didn't make for much of a savings at all. :\
