Default Need New Photo editing build

Guys,
This build will be for extensive photoshop use mainly. Would like to have lots of processing power and at least 4 gig of ram as well as a good mobo. also need a good sata 500gb hd. I have an Antech 900 case already and a 350 watt psu. Currently I'm running amd athlon 64 venice oc'd to 2500. 2gb ram asus k8n socket 754 mobo. of course like most I'd like it to be on the cheap!

I've been out of the loop for a while and am open for suggestions. I'd like to get something that's proven and easily ocable!

Thanks

I guess you will run a video card if so might need new PSU.

For processing power whats your price limit really?

I would suggest a Q6600 or E8400 at the least for future sake. Could go lower with a E7200 but a Q9450 would be amazing with 4GB of fast RAM and a fast HDD.

Motherboard could go with the P45 ASUS P5Q series.

That's it. You're editing photos, but they only get so big. Don't spend a ton of money on it, you don't really need 37437882342378237GB of RAM and two quads.

edit: Yay 3k posts! Congratulations me ;p

Good build but I'd go with a 9550 instead and save a little

He wanted something proven at OCing, the 9850 and 790GX should get him to 3.2Ghz, and the 9850 is a steal these days.

Good looking system..

How would this compare to

MOBO-DFI LP UT P35 T2R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775

Trying to decide between AMD/INTEL setup

any Cheap video cards to go with either combo?
Don't need anything for gaming

Thanks guys

On average the Q6600 will perform better but I think the reason Kamakazi gave you an AMD build is that the 790GX has awesome onboard graphics which will be more than fine for photo editing. Anyway, the 9850 BE is a solid performer regardless.
