I have done some more case modifications. Update will be coming mid-January most likely.

Not that anyone is following anymore, but I am planning to increase my CPU speed a fuzz. Furthermore, I am getting an HD 4870x2 in a few days. Pics are going to come. Eventually.

Man i want to see 3dmark06 or something on that lol. As for the continued work, i am darn well impressed lol. But im more interested in your ability to oc ur 5400+ (dunno if it is a black edition seeing how ur cpuid doesnt say so). I can only seem to get mine to a max of 3446.36 MHz and anything above that would just not boot or anything.

im keeping an eye on this thread

Cheers,
S1L3Nt

Yeah, my 5400+ is a Black Edition. Presently running it at 1.360 V with 13x250 (3250 MHz). I was looking to increase that a bit, perhaps as high as I can do with no more than 1.400 V.

i managed to push mine past 3.4ghz lol. Granted it wasnt stable, but im also using a stock amd hsf from my 4400+ (ncix is terrible, dont buy from them....they dont ship or order jack... i think they just took my money ) But yah, i wish i could get this cpu up to 3.6ghz cuz my upper limit for voltages is 1.655 which should get me around there:P

Wow, 1.655 V? That is a little crazy in my opinion.

I am, at 3.25 GHz, 24/7 stable at whatever I can throw at it. Well, aside of anti-aliasing, but that is a graphics card issue. Hence the HD 4870x2.

well my mobo doesnt allow me to mess with my ram timings or control north and south bridge voltages. So this motherboard isnt really built for overclocking:P. But im pretty happy that i could get it over 3.4ghz on air on a suicide run. 3.3 ghz was ez for this board, just 1.375vcore. But once it went over 3.4ghz, the processor was just power hungry lol. At 3.5ghz my bios was not posting and i had to clear the cmos lol. rite now im at 3.2 at 1.350vcore.

Okay... so if you look at post 1, you will notice that ugly purple inner door. The idea of having a 90mm fan there to suck in the air followed by a 120mm made no sense to me. That said, I decided it had to go!

I purchased a Thermalright HR-01-K8 fan duct. Cut it into two, uneven pieces. The larger of which got put onto my SI-128's fan. I removed the plastic door handle, and increased the holes that were there. By default, you have a large collection of holes as you see on the bottom of the door. Instead, I cut that whole nonsense out.

I increased the size of the 90mm hole in the acrylic to 120mm. The holes from the fan grill were already 120mm sized, so I mounted a fan directly on the door. The smaller of the two duct pieces went on that to duct directly into the graphics cards.

This is what it looked like open:

The CPU-fan mod cut temperatures by as much as 5º C under load. The GPU-fan upgrade cut temperatures by as much as 12º C under load! (CRAZY!)

To prevent dust from building up, I purchased and mounted two fan filters on the exterior of the door. The nice thing about this is that I need not take the case door off to clean them.

This is what it looks like:

Oh, and look what arrived today in the mail:

I am not so sure she will like it in my case, but I am happy where she is:

Yes, I realize my case is a wiring nightmare. I keep meaning to fix that. I have just done a 3DMark06 scan, and since it came free with the 4870x2, I also ran 3DMark Vantage. I cannot post the links because apparently, Futuremark does not approve of the Catalyst 8.12 Dual-Core hotfix. I will have postable links by 9.1 I am sure.

That said, here is what I have:

3DMark06: 11885
SM 2.0: 5394
SM 3.0: 6328
CPU: 2296

Yes, I am ticked. This is lower than my Crossfired HD 3850s! The CPU is much of the same though, so I am curious if the HD 4870x2 has more overhead than Crossfired HD 3850s. One thing is for sure, it looks like I really need to get cracking on that CPU overclock.

Vantage: P8448
CPU: 4523
GPU: 11887

The GPU does not look bad to me, but that CPU seems to be an eyesore. I do not know the way my scores stack up, but that is not important right now. My next upgrade is definitely going to be a quad core, but the question is: what is my budget for it?

Not to keep rambling, but I will get around to re-overclocking that CPU eventually. Feel free to check back if I ever did it.

Okay, I am overclocking fast and gritty. Again. 260x13 (3380 MHz) is at the very least Windows stable. I can run any program I tried except for CrystalCPUID. When I click that, the screen goes technicolor and the speakers let out a ear-piercing screech.

Needless to say, I am not keeping that.

257x13 (3337 MHz) permits me to boot CrystalCPUID. (I need this program as it is my Cool-n-Quiet replacement. Read earlier in the thread for details.) Right now, I am testing OCCT v 2.0 before I get my hopes too high up.
