I just learned something very important: DDR2 is actually quad pumped! (Yeah, I know I am slow.) This means that I can in fact use Gogar to optimize my computer's overclock. Now, all I need is a few lazy days to sit down and find my maximum CPU/RAM/HT/HTT clocks and see what she spits out.

Boy is this thing stubborn. vwgti, have you found anything that really helps break open the speed and/or stability that I might be missing? I notice this board has 2 glaring issues: 1) It likes to undervolt; 2) It hates odd numbers! If you have an even HTT, your CPU speed is HTTxMulti. If you have an odd HTT, your CPU speed is (HTT-0.4)xMulti. No clue why it does that, it just does! And get this:
1.325 V in BIOS (± 0 mV) => 1.308 V in OS 1.350 V in BIOS (+ 25 mV) => 1.320 V in OS 1.375 V in BIOS (+ 50 mV) => 1.360 V in OS 1.400 V in BIOS (+ 75 mV) => 1.371 V in OS 1.425 V in BIOS (+ 100 mV) => 1.408 V in OS Set it to a bump of an odd multiple of 25 mV, it does less than 15 mV per setting. Set it to a bump of an even multiple of 25 mV, it does about 25 mV per setting. Doing testing, so far I have ascertained that my maximum CPU clock is around 3300 stable. (It goes at least as far up as 3400 MHz, likely more, but it crashes the second I load S&M.) My memory tops out at DDR2-840. My HyperTransport I am unsure of and unconcerned with; I used to run it 1250 MHz with a small HTV bump. Worse case, I can drop the multiplier to 4x. Gogar suggests either 16x206 200:200 (giving me 3296 MHz with DDR2-824) or 13x253 200:166 (giving me 3285 MHz with DDR2-821). I had previously ran 13x250 200:166 (giving me 3250 MHz with DDR2-813) so I am going to go the latter route. I have learned that because I can do 1T on the 200:166 divider and not the 200:200 divider, ti is better to get the RAM divider down and the HTT ramped back up to compensate for it.

On the plus side: I figured out how to force F@H to run on both cores of my HD 4870x2. Right now, they are pulling in about 2700/2200 PPD. Why they are different: it seems that Core0 is smart enough to clock up to 750/900, Core1 is still sitting at 507/500. Anyone know a fix that does not require me to unlock CCC? Unless you unlock ATI Overdrive, you cannot use the profile system. What is strange, is that even though Core0 is in 3D Mode, the fan has not kicked up any. It is loading about 84º C, which for these cards, I suppose is fine.

I meant to ask when I saw your case earlier: have you applied carbon fiber paper to that, or is that a trick of the camera? Also, what did you use to cut the back wall of the case?

Its just spray paint silver and black shot through that non stick stuff for your shelves and I used a drill to get through the back panel. Its kinda sloppy and I could do better.

So... I recall a time when The Duke said that increasing your Southbridge voltage helps with AM2 CPUs on AMD Northbridges when you have a relatively high HTT. So, I figured I would try it. At the Southbridge's default 1.200 V, I could run 13x250 through S&M. 13x251 or higher would fail S&M's FPU test. 13x255 or higher would not permit 3DMark06 to run. I was sure the CPU was not to blame, as it could pass S&M at 17x200. Given the temperature induced by the voltage I was sending through it to try to get near 3.4 GHz, I gave up. Until yesterday.
Last night, I gave my Southbridge a 200 mV bump. Last night, it passed S&M's FPU test at 13x254. At those settings, I have 3302 MHz with DDR2-825. What is more impressive is that it did it on the exact same CPU vCore that it needed for 3250 MHz. To run 16.5x200 (3300 MHz as well) I needed to increase the vCore with a stock Southbridge. I am hopeful for some more speed; ideally maxing out my RAM for the timings it has. At 4-4-4-12-1T-16-105 ns, my RAM tops out around DDR2-840. It would be nice if I could run 13x262; that would give me 3.4 GHz with DDR2-850. Only way to know is to try it I suppose; updates later today.

Just a quick heads up: I should have my new Deneb and RAM being delivered today. Once installed, this thread will be retired and I will link over to the new thread.

As promised:
The Deneb is in, and Dragonier has officially launched. This thread will receive no more updates.
