Just to throw something out there for the sake of being different. Here's an example of how cheap you could do this build if you went AMD.

Go with something like this combo for the BE-2400 and the Biostar 790GX mobo (w/SB750 for future phenoms/denebs...) for $115

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Size=10&page=1

Then the legendary Gskill PC6400 2x1 gig kit for $44

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098

Just doing that will save you about $80 right there, and more money down the line, because the AM2+ boards are compatible with the new AM3 denebs that are coming out soon. So you'll be able to use that board with the next gen chips, instead of needing to buy a new mobo with your nahalem (if you ever decide to go that route).

Anyway, I just wanted to show that you could do it for cheaper. I am fully aware that the BE-2400 wont OC as well, however you should be able to get it to about 3.1- 3.3GHz on air cooling, which isn't anything to sneeze at.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Alright, im off to buy the parts. Ive bought everything listed in monster's build, except for the PSU, CorryBlaster's comment made me decide not to. the total with out the psu was $502.68 with shipping, but now i need a PSU. oh and seeing as this thread no longer entails a AMD cpu, maybe it should be moved.... But anyway thank you everyone for your help, and this cheap build will be done ordering as soon as i get a good PSU!

This is a nice PSU $64.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151033

I have the 500W version (difference is the 500W has an 8pin plug)
It's VERY quiet

If you want something a little cheaper, get this Antec Trio $59.99
