not bad to start. is there any kind of budget for this??? 3850 should be alright for mild gaming. The motherboardds r fine, although i would go with the ASUS 790 FX since its the better chipset. The 5400 is a good dual core processor. However if u want to go quad, stay away from the 9500's/9600's, you will want to go with any Phenom that ends with "50", so that gives u the 9550, 9650, 9750, 9850, or 9950. Also, what type of RAM were u thinking about going with. If you need suggestions, GSkill, Crucial Ballistix, OCZ, Corsair, or Mushkin r all really good brands. hope the helps you out some.

in my opinion and a lot of others here on OCN, Corsair makes excellent power supplies. Something like this would easily suffice and it has a great price on it right now.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139004 good luck with the build and oh yea, one more thing. Since ur gonna be getting the 5400 which will most likely be a black edition processor. You will need to get a heat sink for that processor. Heard a lot of good things about the OCZ vendetta 2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=Vendetta%202

My only problem now is that I cant get the darn thing to power up inside the case. I did a pre-boot outside of the case and all is fine but once inside and everything is hook up ...nothing. What could be the culprit? I checked all the standoffs etc but all is fine there is there anything else I should be looking for? any help would be appreciated.

check to make sure you got all ur power cables in correctly, also do u get any beeps or power when u turn it on? make sure ur power supply is set to on and double check to make sure every thing is seated correctly.
