New to Overclock.net
|
Alright everyone im wanting to upgrade my processor ive currently got a AMD 64 X2 5000 black edition,i play alot of games ive heard AMD processors are better for games but dont know if thats right i have no problems with intel cos ive never used so i cant judge,i see alot of people have intel q6660 or something? and AMD have the Phenom is this a good processor? any recommendations are aprieciated thanks

Majority of people would say go Intel, but I say it depends on how much you want to spend.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE. I heard Ford is coming out with heated bumpers in 2010 so your hands don not get cold while pushing it.

phenoms are good... 9850/9950 BE is good yea?
__________________if you want to go intel you need a new board...if you do stick with q6600/q9550 or e8400, 8500, 8600

You might try checking out the 8750 BE... its a tri core, but will overclock higher that the 9950, and costs less. People also say that they are awesome for gaming. 2 cores for the game, and another for background stuff.
On your mobo, you might get 3-3.1GHz out of the 9950, while the 8750 will hit 3.2GHz, and costs about $30-$40 less. Both are good choices, just wanted to give you a few more options. Good luck with whatever you do.

You'll need a new mobo if you wanna get am2+ support and headroom for overclocking. If you wanna maintain your sli you'll need a 750a or 780a or if you wanna go crossfire get a 790gx or 790fx
