I agree, that's correct. This isn't even about computing, this is about basic electronics. The 12/4=3 thing would work if the fans were connected in series (why would anyone want to do THAT exactly?), but they're connected in parallel.

Therefore voltage is maintained across all fans at 12v. Although amperage IS divided between them, as far as I know. I'm not entirely sure on that point though.
