Default My pc all of a sudden became silent?

Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong spot but I couldn't find a category related to pc problems that I'm having.

Well, first off, my pc was running somewhat noisy, and has been for about a year. I have 2 120mm fans, a dedicated dvd-rom drive, one hard drive, and a rosewill 550w power supply. I opened up my case and unplugged some stuff for cable management, next I went out and bought a power strip because I ran out of outlets, now My pc is running really really quiet. I opened my case and everything is working fine, case fans, cpu cooler, gpu fan, psu fan, their working fine... I don't understand, is this like an early Christmas present my computer gave me? I feel like someone in there isn't doing it's job =/

Any ideas / suggestions?

You must have accidently put a few fans on one molex, thus cutting their powersupply to them in half.

If your temperatures are still within the safe limits you'll have nothing to worrie about.

That wouldn't really cut the power in half. My guess is that there was wire grazing fans.

No, if you put 2 fans on one molex it would make them run at 6c.
For example, i've got a Icute case with 4 12v fans, each with a molex and female molex connector. If i connect each fan to the following and then to one molex of the psu they will run at 12/4=3v each.

Go with it man, go with it! If all the fans and such are functioning, you should be fine. Maybe wire or something was scraping up against a fan, and by messing with it you moved it out of the way and its functioning perfectly now.

clean cables = better air flow = quieter functions.

+ if you clean it with compress air it will be much quiet, and some cases are better designed than other to provide airflow and less noise.

No. Wiring inside computers DO NOT work this way. When you daisy-chain three fans onto one molex plug, the voltages are distributed in parallel and therefore allowing for an EQUAL +12V drop across all fans. The originating node is the molex connector attached to the power supply.
