Question Real Budget Build

Hi all,

Always on here reading, so i thought i might aswell get peoples advice after many many days of research on the net.

Want to check with you all with this real budget build before i buy this evening.

Rig will be used for general office work, multi-media, and mid-range gaming (COD 5).

Board: Asus M2N68 £45 / $70
Case: CoolerMaster 330 £25 / $35
PSU: Coolermaster 460W eXtreme Power Plus £30 / $40
GFX: Saphire X1950 Pro 512MB £30 / $45
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 320GB £40 / $60
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750+, Black Edition £65 / $100
RAM: 2GB Corsair Dominator 1066MHz £40 / $60

I already have a O/D, & O/S (Vista 64 Ultimate).

I have reached the max end of my budget, so i'd like to hear some recommendations to improve this build perhaps, but at a less cost, not more.

(For those in US) Remember the currency is different here in the UK, so a certain part might be cheap in the US, but more expensive here. Stupid exchange rate!

I've given rough a estimate (above) of what price they are in the UK, but in US Dollar to give you an idea of what price they go for here.

Looks pretty good to me, what about going to a AMD X2 5600+ 2.9ghz(being a little cheaper) and then getting a 320mb 8800GTS(a little more) so that you have DX10?

Your above setup looks good though for what your doing with it.

I would rather cut down to some DDR2 800 ram which are not dominators and get 2x2 GB. Also try for a newer card than the X1950Pro e.g. HD4670

Well i was going to go that way with more spent on the GFX than the CPU, but i'm thinking playing it safe and buying the 7750+ BE now rather than later being future proof to a certain extent and o/c it more when i need to. Over time i can get a better GFX card. I can get the X1950 Pro for £29 off a mate if i need to Not bad!

No, a 8800gs/9600gso is a little better.

And a Antec EA430w.
The CM 460w is fine tho.

They are better, but he's at the end of his budjet so he would have to take a little somewhere else.

Exactly Tbh, i think £29 for a X1950 Pro 512MB is a great deal, no?

That is a good deal, You can always get a better one in the future if you need. It should play COD5 decently enough though.

I think you should look at something other than a Coolermaster Extreme power PSU

IIRC the "eXtreme power" line is poor quality
