I like the PSU also. You can't have enough power options, and that PCP&C is awesome.
OK I finished my previous posts with a few edits. *EDIT* Here is the cooler you want - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835207004 The paste that comes with it is actually pretty good, but the OCZ Freze is still better.

Stay with the bigger PSU.. The Bigger the better. If you get a PSU thats too big that means it has to work less to support your rig. Its always better to have too much than not enough or just enough.

1. Is the thermal compound that big of a difference? Is it worth delaying the entire build? 2. The HDD is out of my budget 3. Also out of my price range 16$ v. 8$ 4. I probably won't ever burn a DVD on this rig that's what the macbook is for. So will this make much of a differance. Really it will be for installing OS and then games maybe some video watching but thats what my PS3 is for. (now i just realized how dumb I am spreading my tech all out when I could get a better deal just pushing it all into a PC oh well live and learn.) 5. Dimensions on the case are 17.3" x 7.9" x 19.5" What I will most likely do is attach the stock CPU cooler and then send the ASUS back for a full refund and I'll drop the money for the thermal compound with the other CPU cooler. Thanks for the help +rep for sure and nice latin

Yes the thermal paste makes a huge difference. I was using AS5 for years, and then got some OCZ freeze. It dropped my temps 5-7*C on my CPU and video cards. Also, the OCZ Freeze is not electrically conductive. That is muy importante. As for the hard drive, then get a WD or Samsung that is within your price range. The Caviar Blue or SE16 are great drives also, just not as fast. The fan is not a huge deal, but when you have the $$$ and are looking for a good fan, nothing beats an S-Flex for 120x25mm fans. I just had a really bad time with Optiarc drives. I was getting read errors after 2 days. RMA'd and got another one, same thing. Just poor quality control. Like I said, LG, Samsung, Asus, or LiteOn. Anything but Optiarc. For the CPU cooler, I linked one in my previous post. It should fit just fine. It is a very good cooler, comes with decent paste, and is cheaper than the Asus, even after the MIR. Best of luck on this build. Don't forget to take pics and share your results. The main parts of the rig (CPU,mobo,PSU, RAM) are all very good solid choices. You will be very happy with it. I was just freaking out because the smaller details were being overlooked, and these will affect performance as much as major hardware will. You have to take every advantage you can with technology. Best of luck BTW Thanks for noticing my Latin. It is why my advice is halfway decent (I hope). I don't have much else to think about

I do agree that the Patriot RAM would be better because it can OC so much better. G. Skill bins their RAM to what speeds it can reach, so OCing it is very difficult to do. I think the OP should be fine though. As long as it runs at stock settings he will be in good shape.

Havent attempted to OC my memory yet being as i have an BE amd chip so i figured that 1066mhz was plenty fast enough and with the right timings its got all the snap in the world i could ask for. sure am kickin myself in the arse for getting my 9950 BE when i did cause the P2 looks so much more promising and more fun to play with. My 9950 is supposed to be a 125w version and the thing gets insanely hot at even the smallest overclocks

LOL. The order has already been placed. Besides he is on a real world budget. The PhII 940 CPU will blow any Intel chip within the same price range out of the frakking water anyways. He has the best that his $$$ will buy.Quote:
