Fixed Hi, recently I bought a new case for my computer (iCute ZL08). It got shipped, I opened it up, Transferring Everything from my old case to my new. Everything was in fine, I was liking the look. Not taking not that my new PSU has an I/O switch on the back it was left ON. So I plugged all my cables apart from my power. Then I put my power in, ALL I seen was a spark. No bang. I was assuming it wasn't the PSU. What I done: When it sparked the specs were: SHAW 680W PSU Palit 9800 GT 512mb Asus K8V-VM Series MotherBoard Maxtor 40gig & Seagate 500gig 512mb Kingston & Unknown Brand 1gig AMD 3200+ Sempron What I changed after spark: 400W Unknown Brand PSU Palit 7300 GT 256mb Changed memory to other sticks (Unknown Brand) Now the result of both is that, There is a green light on the motherboard, When I press the power button NOTHING appears to happen. Although when I was fiddling around I pressed the power and I got an amber light that slowly went on then off. I then changed back to the old case yet no change. Pre-Answers: YES I have checked the Front Panel Cables which are CORRECTLY in. YES I have tried to screwdriver trick on the 2 pins, no effect. YES I was grounded the whole time I transferred/touched the parts. I'm about 90% positive it's the motherboard, although I don't know why there's a green light still on. It means there's power in the board correct? I'm thinking of buying a new CPU & Motherboard. I don't won't to spend that much on them, around ($250 AUD) as I'm not that financial at the moment. Should I stick with AMD or switch to Intel? Also suggestions for the Motherboard? I'd prefer 2 x PCIe 16x slots as I'd like to SLI. Kind Regards

If you're looking to save money, AMD is the way to go. ASUS has some great boards out there, both for Crossfire and SLI. Go for an AM2+ board, that would be your best choice right now. You can get something from Intel, but in my opinion, I think they're over-rated.

Thanks Darkvette, I'm highly considering AMD as I've had that CPU for quite some time now and it has rarely failed on me. I've never seen a BSOD on my computer either.

Try leaving it unplugged for a couple hours and let the power drain out. helps me sometimes. also test the 400w power supply in another computer that you know for sure works.
Also you might just upgrade, this time get a good power supply.
