"Whats up with only one DIMM per slot, should I avoid the dual channel." this is with am3 boards only at this point.
the board that you plan to get does not suffer from this problem so you will be just fine.

No its a memory controller issue. You can run 4 banks of memory @ 800mhz no problems, but your limited to 2 x X-pc8500 dimms. Personally id steer clear of the xigmatek cooler as i got one and its been crap for me so far. Get a sunbeam core contact instead as im regretting selling mine(well actually i gave it to my buddy to softmod my wii) as it performed excellently. Looks like a solid build though.

I think he was meaning about it running @800 instead of 1066 with 2 DIMMs in each channel. It's an ASUS thing from what I have been seeing & experiencing with my own ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe. Granted yes, the wording itself was not quite correct as it is physically impossible to get more than 1 DIMM in each slot.

X2 on the Sunbeam. It's better for an AMD chip since it has the 4 heatpipes instead of the 3. If you are just aching to get a Xiggy, get the 1284 instead.

Thanks for the advice. The RAM thing is cleared up now. (Sorry about the odd wording, What I meant is one DIMM per Channel
As to response for my avatar im a networking geek. And Ill look into the cooler. Another question Is the PSU going to be enough juice with all the fans and the beast of a graphics card. And being a home build virgin. If i just move my current HD over to my new rig will it be able to boot. I do not feel like buying a copy of windows. Last edited by TheTeege : 02-14-09 at 01:04 AM |

that depends on what your setup was prior and which windows. You should be fine with the psu. Im using a crummy OCZ 650 watter with a GTX 260 and no issues yet.

The PSU should be good enough
How much is it though? Maybe we can find a better quality one for you in the same price range
