New to Overclock.net

MOBO: K9A2VM-FD
Ram: 8Gb DDR2 PC2 5300/5400 667MHZ DIMM CPU: AMD Athlon 64 5000 x2 2.6GHz Windsor AM2 Dual Core Video: Nvidia GeForce 8500GT 1GB Fans: 4x air cooled HDD: 1TB Sata hard drive CD/DVD: Sony DVD/RW & CD/RW burner I wanted to post my spec for the computer i just built and find out if anyone could help me with overclocking this computer to its max performace. If anyone here could help me out please let me know. I dont want to blow up the computer or damage anything that i just bought but i would like help on overclocking it because i have never overclocked a system before but have built tuns and know a lot. Why 8GB?
The 8500GT is near useless for gaming.... The 1GB DDR2 onboard memory is really wasted... You should be able to overclock the GPU by 20-50%.

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular

That'll help us out, fill that out ![]() :edit: 8GB is alot for that build. You'd do fine with just 3. However, it makes it future-upgradeable. See if you can pick up an 8800GTS 512MB or an 8800GT or higher :P

he meant it for mainstream gaming in hybrid sli. like the 780g+3450 in hybrid crossfire. it should perform like a 8600gt. but yeah, 1gb on that gpu is a waste. i'm guessing you're playing games like war3, right?
![]() hmm you should have gone for a brisbane core since they run cooler. a 45w tdp model like the x2 5050e. and ddr2 800 at least. otherwise, the build is great. ![]() cheers
