WD 250GB HDD w/free shipping: $39

That's about all I can add. I made a list and it came up to $202, and $223 with shipping with the above thoughts (shipping cost on case and mobo). 2GB is more than enough for XP (my sig system), and 1GB would work (my work notebook has it). 2GB RAM would make a better selling point when you are looking to upgrade.

Nice to know I can still piece my system together for under $300... I'd probably get the 7750 (AM2+) instead of the 4850e (AM2) and 4GB RAM instead of 2GB, but that would take it over $300 == $304 + $8...

a single core, IMO, is completely fine, I have an older rig, its got a AMD 2.0 clocked to 2.8 and an agp 256 card. the radeon x850. and that thing can play WOW at 50fps.
even WC3 with onboard video on my laptop has good graphics.

single cores arent bad. people just assume that a dual core is a need. specially if u only need it for the summer and for standard use.

drop it down and you'll be fine

Is that motherboard an overclocking motherboard? I disagree about the single cores, dual cores are 2x as good, run everything faster, multitask twice as good. Single cores just suck unless your doing ONE thing at a time.
