i mean, what i really want to do is get one of those phenom II x3's if I find that the 4rth core can be unlocked and stay stable.

there's no ddr4 version of a 4830. though there's a 1gb version, but i don't think newegg has one. basically with that res, 4870 and above is a must, but you can xfire 2 4830s and it will perform 20% more than a single 4870. getting the 1gb version will allow you to avail a lot of eyecandies like aa/af.

i found this thread that shows no big difference between the 1gb and a 512mb through many games and benchmarks...
it is a 4850 though and not the 4830 or 4870, but i dont think that matters much

http://www.overclock.net/ati/407342-...mb-vs-1gb.html

I mean i read that at those high res's that AA doesnt really come into play for the fact that the pixels are so small. I understand that the more memory, the more can be scanned, but if the difference isnt that big???

ohhh. that's cool. well i think the advantage of going ddr4 is that it will be more overclockable and it will give you a slightly more fps in games. but gameplay will be much smoother with a 1gb.
