The next upgrade (if ever my wallet stops screaming) would be a watercooling system. The two Kama Bay coolers up front would be replaced with a 240 mm radiator and the CPU would go on the loop solely.

For the record, I have just downloaded Win7 RC and am now mounting it to a USB drive. I will likely install it on the spare hard drive Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. I am really excited to try the XP Mode feature, perhaps restoring games that do not run right in Vista even with compatibility mode.

So... my take on Windows7. It "feels" much faster than Vista, as responsive as XP. However, it seems that software runs no faster: I get identical FPS in Crysis for either Vista or Win7; same time within milliseconds in SuperPi. The XP Mode is a neat idea, shame it would not work on the software I tried. (Either told me to insert the CD or told me it could not initialize.)

I am not a big fan of Windows Media Player 12. I am a fan of the fact that Vista Glazz is no longer needed, as now the task bar is always transparent. I am unsure how I feel about the new pin to taskbar feature, but I dislike the lack of quickstart. The new start orb is cool though, as is the new Windows-is-booting screen. Also nice is adjustable UAC (rather than "on" or "off," you now have four levels of intrusiveness to chose from) but I will likely run it on high.

It is nice to see that Microsoft finally got around to expanding the Experience Index, but I think they are a little screwwy:

A Deneb is better in the scheme of all processors than quadfire is in the scheme of all video cards? Last I checked, 2x HD 4870x2 is the third best solution (after 3x GTX 285 and 2x GTX 295), so why is its score so meager? For the record, that hard drive is my 80 GB SATA-150, which is why the score is so pathetic.

LOL, none of your scores are the same. All of blitz's scores are higher then yours except for your HDD.

I do not know what my primary HDD gets in Windows7; I know in Vista it pegs the 5.9 without difficulty. The 80 GB scores the same in Vista as it does in Windows7. (Interestingly, the 120 GB ATA-100 I also have runs at around 5.2 if I remember right.)

Because I did not want to molest my Vista install on the 750 GB, so I installed on a spare drive. Back in the day (when XP was on the 750 GB) I had the 80 GB running Vista and Ubuntu.

Oh yeah, I kinda figured it out just now. Sorry, I'm a bit slow.

I like the pin to taskbar function, it's kinda neat. Although I hate the default setting of combining the programs and hiding the labels in the taskbar. I want to be able to access whichever window I want within a single click.
