The spec for DDR2-800 single-channel mode is 6400 MBps. Dual-channel could be upwards of 12,800 MBps in a perfect world. In theory, you cannot exceed 6400 MBps for single-channel or 12,800 MBps for dual-channel.

I guess it's safe to say we can't always assume memory will calculate at each clock cycle. Good luck

Aside of Skt 939, I have never seen a system reach the theoretical dual-channel rate. DDR-500 has a theoretical rate of 4000 MBps, dual-channel of 8000 MBps. I have seen as high as 7900 MBps, which is darned close. My Brisbane rig had a theoretical of 13,008 MBps, but brought in 9400 MBps, which is darned good compared to my contemporaries. My friend's Skt T (LGA 775) has a theoretical bandwidth of 16,000 MBps but it actually pulls in 7500 MBps.

My RAM was delivered to the leasing office while I was out of town. My new CPU cooler (NH-C12P) was held at the post office because I had a hold. I think the hold expires today, so I should have the RAM installed tonight, and the cooler installed tomorrow.

I now have the RAM installed. It made 8 passes of Memtest86+ without a single error.
I also received my Noctua NH-C12P, although I have yet to install it. Unlike the NH-U12P, which comes with standard brackets and 90º brackets, the NH-C12P only comes with standard brackets. With my motherboard, this means the pipes will face right or face left. I have emailed Noctua to see if they will send me some 90º brackets so I can point the pipes up.

It seems the NH-C12P has a different base than the NH-U12P. In the words of Noctua:

The biggest thing I am looking forward to: Once I install the mounting bracket, I will not have to remove the motherboard anymore! Yes, this cooler has a mounting bracket you attach to the board, and then the cooler screws into the bracket, with the end result that you can reseat the cooler while in the case like I could with my Zalman CNPS9500LED.

![]() If you have a friend that works in a machine shop or know someone quite well in that area I wonder if you could get some brackets fabricated... Good luck PS. Am I the only one following your build?

It seems that way at times. I think you are the only one operating in the AM.

I'm following your progress too, just haven't said anything
![]() Nice to hear that you've got working RAM now. Too bad about the HS though, is it possible for you to use it anyway or is something in the way preventing you to mount it?

Progress towards AM3: 55% $The rig below is my "Aeris"-build. I currently expect it to be done by Jan/Feb 2010. These specs are preliminary and will be modified if I manage to find a better solution in the same price range. My current main rig? "Archon [Skt939 AGP]" in my profile. ![]()
