Xaser Brixfire (HD 4870x2 with a Brisbane @ 3.25 GHz) scored P8688 and 12778 respectively. I never ran Vantage on my Toledo. But, 3DMark06 gives me a CPU score of 2300 on a Brisbane @ 3.25 GHz, 2000 on a Toledo @ 2.8 GHz, and 4850 on a Deneb @ 3.45 GHz.

Hope this helps you Hueristic!

Regards x3s: It seems they are hit and miss. Some people can unlock them no issue. Others can unlock them, but they are very less than stable. You may or may not get lucky.

HothBase: 3DMark of any flavor does not show a true system strength. My HD 4870x2 on the Brisbane got 12.7k. My 2x HD 3850 on the Brisbane got 12k. I can tell you, having used both, the 2x HD 3850 could not hold a candle to the HD 4870x2 while gaming. This does not mean I would not want another HD 4870x2; as of now, I can play almost game I want fluidly with the exception of Crysis. While that game is terribly coded, there will definitely be games in the future that will bring my system to its knees, and I want to be ready for them ahead of time.
Good Job on the Mark scores, heck you will prolly jump into the 23-26k range w/another 4870x2 I've been thinking of using a Nvidia 9800 GTX 1gig for my physics engine card and then using 2x GTX 295's 1gig cards sli'd or prolly something along those lines in the near future. Do you think I might hold a candle to your scores w/my proposed cards and similiar cpu and mobo as you?

I just figured that when games become too demanding for a 4870x2, maybe it would be better to sell it and buy a completely new card with the latest features and such instead. Idunno, it's just a speculation.

A Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM. I had hoped to use my motherboard to throttle it, but that does not seem to work. Apparently, my motherboard cannot dial back the voltage like most motherboards, and requires a PWM in order to dial back fan speed. The fan is not a PWM fan. So, I need to find now a rheostat I can use (preferably, one that mounts into a PCI expansion slot) to dial back voltage. The rheostats I have now will not work with it. (They require a fan that has a plug to plug them into like my Thermaltakes of old.)

The good news is: As loud as the Kaze is (it is going to drive me buggy) it does seem to help. S&M load temps decreased from 55º C to 50º C. Replacing the Artic Silver 5 with OCZ Freeze and adding another washer brought me down to 48º C. Removing the fan on the door (S-Flex) and instead reinstalling my duct such that the Kaze pulls straight from outside brought me down another 1-2º C it seems. That said, I should be able to increase my voltage and start overclocking again, because 3450 MHz seems to be as high as it will go while undervolted to 1.328 V. Any higher, and it will droop to 1.312 V at load, a voltage too low to sustain additional speed. (1.375 V in the BIOS is 1.344 V under load, which was either (1) not enough to sustain 3.6 GHz or (2) too warm at the same to do so.)

Check this out... I was just wondering, "How did the fan and TIM get here so fast?" I ordered it on the 9th at 2100h. It was delivered on the 11th at 1720h. I checked the tracking label, apparently, it shipped from Rochester, some 58 miles away. Nice.

A similar thing happened w/me and my recend egg purchase. My mobo and P3 Kill A Watt was deliverd two days later and the MX-2 is still in transit from a purchase on the egg on wednesday. I purchased them all at the same time they just shipped from different locations. You wanna hear something funny. I have been trying to set up my fans on one of my fan controllers and then you posted about your fan issue. I am using a Silverstone cost roughly $20.00 at frys. It comes w/a floppy size bay w/3 rheo control knobs and a extra 3 rheo's for the pci slot connection in the rear. It has been taking me so long because I have been moding the cabling to connect all my case fans to it..

Okay; I fixed the fan. My motherboard has two plugs labeled "CPU" apparently. One is reduced by voltage; the other, by PWM. Right now, the fan is at a tolerable volume. Here is the interesting part:

My "CPU" temperature reports as 15º C
My "Core" temperatures report as 23º C
My Ambient is 17.3º C...

I thought my faulty DTS were behind me with the Brisbane being chucked.

Good Job.

That is a software issue. I noticed the same enomolies today w/ EU 4.60 reading -2 and 8C today and OCCT reads the same as EU 4.60 When I installed EU 5.0 the temperatures were reading the correct values... So good luck on that one but try some different software to see if you can get that all squared away...

Man cable management is a PITA been at it all day... Well could be that I'm just a little slow but I'd rather get it right the first time and not have to rip a lot of wires back out later on. I have been fighting w/it all day...

Keep up the good work.

I think it is a BIOS issue. I have Everest 5.00 and it shows that. (Everest 5.01 also did; but I did not run that version very long. Too lazy.) OCCT does as well. As does almost anything I check. The -2º / 8º C sounds like what my Brisbane did. I was so happy to get the Deneb thinking I would once again have a clue what temperature my CPU was. SURPRISE!
