I'll get them to check it over - if its the motherboard and under warranty - they won't charge me.

I don't have your mobo so can't help too much, but have your tried downgrading your bio to F2 or F1? I looked at the Gigabyte page, it looks like your board supports Phenoms out of the box, sometimes certain version of the bios don't play well with certain rams. In my case, I can't use bios newer than 1.20 for my board because then the ram can't run stably even at it's default timing and speed. So if you exhausted all other options, you might want to try this.

You can just flash to an earlier version of the bios either with an USB drive or floppy drive. Be sure your system is at least pretty stable before doing that though.

Most of the time when you upgrade a motherboard, you have to re-install the Operating System. If you are using an older install of XP from a different motherboard, chances are, those drivers won't work on the new motherboard. So when you get your stiff booting properly, Immediately Format the Harddrive and Re-install Windows XP.

Hey guys,

I tried again a number of times over the weekend, I downloaded Ultimate Bootable CD, burnt to disc.

I did get the system to fire up into BIOS without a HDD connected, I then inserted the Bootable CD, but the dreaded "DISC ERROR INSERT SYSTEM DISC" keeps coming up.

So even though I can get to a BIOS screen, I can't get anything to run from the DVD drive.

I have checked the boot setting in the BIOS and they are set to DVD/CD drive as first boot device, so I'm baffled now as to how I can get this up and running.

Norman I think you should call the place you got it from and try to RMA the board.

Hey Drack,

They've got the full tower with all components, discs, boxes etc, so if anything is faulty they'll replace it under warranty and not charge me, I went round there yesterday, they are flat out busy and haven't looked at my machine yet....no biggie as I'm gaming on my other rig.

Thanks again.
