what's with all you intel guys in this thread?
recommending an e1xxx/e2xxx? come on, an athlon x2 is much faster than that. it's only the core2duo e4xxx and higher that beats an athlon x2. anything lower than that is just slower. i say again, nothing beats an amd build in the mid and low range segment. so try beating this build: $125 amd phenom 2 x3 710 $55 foxcon 780v $41 4gb gskill ddr2 800 $42 550w cm real power $20 cm case $70 Western Digital Caviar Black $5 logitec optical mouse $7 logitec keyboard $25 lg dvdrw sata+lightscribe $390 Total and with the extra money left, you can reward yourself with this 20" 1600x900 lcd $130 20" asus lcd the built-in videocard is more than enough to handle light gaming. you can add a videocard in the future if you want to go gaming. take note that the phenom 2 x3 is faster than any dual cores out there, even against the more expensive core 2 duo e8xxx series. there you go

and oh, the 7750be kills an e5200 clock for clock. but the e5200 can go 4ghz giving it an edge against a 3.3ghz overclock of a 7750. but then again he needs to have an expensive mobo with a true or xigy heatsink just to attain that, so it's pretty much pointless since he doesn't game, so i assume he won't be overclocking and doesn't need it.
so please stop this nonsense. you all are just gonna get pawned here.

and maybe a 780g http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186165 780g has a better igp than the 780v. Both those things raise it $35.

just to point out, depending on what CPU you choose, you will need a different socket motherboard. so if you go intel, then you will need a Socket 775 and if you go AMD then you will need the appropriate mobo for it too. Sorry if that was blateantly obvious but I just wanted to make sure you dont waste your money on the wrong motherboad...

Redhammer: thanks, I understood that i need a Intel capable motherboard for the cpu, but i do need help on the compatibility of specific CPU's with specific mobos and memory.
This is what I've got, https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/M...46&ChangeQty=0 This isn't including mouse and keyboard, shipping was too expensive. Everything on the list is free shipping except the mobo. Subtract 25$ for the MIR on the corsair memory. So, in the end its 525$ after MIR and shipping. Plus I'll have to find a keyboard and mouse somewhere. Is there anything else I'll need to build this? fans and such? Is the power supply big enough? 400 watts How do I put USB plugins in the front? And I can always add a video card and audio card later when i'm rich

400 watts is big enough for a system without any videocard.
