Default My Build (suggestions for RMA'd parts)

O.K., on the 27th of March, I ordered a complete set of system parts to build a PC with. They are listed below:

Antec 300 w/ Earthwatts 500 W - combo
BIOSTAR TA790GX w/ Phenom II 720 - combo
MSI Geforce 9800 w/ OCZ Reaper 4 GB DDR2 1150 -combo
Asus 19" Monitor (amazing!)
Generic mouse and keyboard
Seagate Barracude 250 GB
Lite-On 22X DVD Burner

Basically, the whole total cameout to $706.00 on NewEgg, meeting my budget precisely. I wated until the 1st for my parts, 2nd for my case, to arrive. When they did, I had a lot of trouble. The pins on my CPU were bent. The Power Supply was DOA (fans on PSU didn't turn on, nothing in system did). I also sent in the motherboard, to be safe. I will be refunded cash for the power supply and motherboard. I sent the Phenom II in to AMD and they will test it for me and inspect to see if it was bent when shipped. However, I think the CPU is alright, did it to make sure. I was excited about the Biostar motherboard because it could unlock the 4th core (which I now know any motherboard can do). Now, I have to make some decisions. Regarding the motherboard, I was thinking of going with a Gigabyte board like this one?

For the power supply, does the following look good?

that board in my opinion is the best bang for buck.

it has dual bios w/c most mobos don't have. then phase power for oc stability. can crossfire. and lotsa other features. the best part is, it's just $110

for the psu, i'd go for this one:

welcome to ocn btw

nVidia representative: PhysX, as seen in next-gen games like Batman:Arkham Asylum, PhysX makes your g200 based card BETTER than the 58XX series in all aspects. You'd be an idiot to buy ATI when you'd be forfeiting physX

Ooh, looks like Gigabyte made some great changes to their 790X Phenom board! I'm hoping that'll overclock better than their other 790X, which is terrible... the one you're looking at is a beaut. Although if you can, the Foxconn 790FX, a $225 motherboard, is $140 now, and a week ago it had $70-$80 combo deals with a bunch of different Phenom/PhII, which made it an incredible deal. Also, in regard to the power supply, 610w is fairly wimpy for the price; if you want that lowish wattage, go with the Hec 580w; incredible PSU for $50 on sale (not sure what the price is now); otherwise go for a Xigmatek, Corsair, or PC Power & Cooling 750w; IMO, 750w is the sweet spot. Hope this helps; I like typing .
