Default Just ordered new upgrades

Last night I was on my sig rig looking hear at ocn and I heard a loud pop. I took a look at my motherboard and turns out I have about 3 bulging caps. I have been wanting to upgrade for awhile and I just pulled the trigger.

Here they are:

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103649

GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128378

combo deal $255

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231189

Total $325 shipped

Question, will my Zalman 9500 mount on the AM3 socket?

very nice.

yes it will fit. am2 and am3 sockets are physically the same, it's the pins that only made the difference.

Thanks, I was just used to my 939 socket with 1 screw on either side of the socket and it looked like the AM3 had 2 screws on either side.

Yeah, thats what I said. I see no reason not going AM3 at this point. At least not for me.

I still don't think there is any need to go AM3 as yet W/ DDR3, but thats a personal choice. I would of suggested the 720BE W/ Biostar TA790GX3-A2+ OR DFI LANPARTY UT 790FX-M2R.
