Hay, soon, this time for sure (+moar than likely :|), I will be getting a new PC. So happy
__________________![]() Anyways, it won't be really soon, but soon, and I was going to start getting ideas down so that when the time comes to fully build the machine, it'll be easier to get it going. Just starting out in advance, learn a few more things, etc. Anyways, this is the build log so far.... ![]() [UPDATE] Took off Sound Card and old harddrives, replaced with WD Blacks and a new Headset (better than using this USB one right now w/ duck taped mic xD). Plus the vid cards should be switched out for some 4770s and might drop the Phenom II X3 down to the none black edition one. Total Price (taxes + shipping + shipping insurance) is: $1146.41 CAD Total Price (taxes + shipping + shipping insurance + MIR) is: $1011.41 CAD Basically, the PC I'm looking at should be under the $1000.00 CAD limit. The PC is going to be used for things such as LAN parties, simple home work, gaming, overclocking, photoshop/movie editing (just home stuff), RAID (the one where the info is copied on both drives), easy access (to the parts), etc. Plus, the PC will have Vista 32-bit or XP 32-bit on it, but that'll be fine until Windows 7 comes out and won't be needing a lot of space (an external would be used for music and videos; probably won't even need 320GBs). Plus, would be having just simple keyboard and a razor mouse, 24in screen (not necessarily playing at 1920x1200, right now only gaming at 1280x1024), and better sound peripherals (might be cheaper to use my current 9600GTs, but don't know any inexpensive mobos that support both crossfire and SLI; would like to go crossfire in the future, far down the road). Anyways, thanks for any input.

forget the soundcard for the meantime and wait for the 4770 (your 9600gt is faster than that 4670) and get a faster hdd like the western digital black.

Ya, was thinking the same. Plus, the PCI-E connects would actually get used >_>.Quote:
![]() Thanks for the input. Oh, another question, how do you set up RAID? Do you need an actual RAID controller or does the mobos have them build in?

yeah u should keep the 9600gt's if you want to stay on your budget... i think 2 9600gt's would be better than a 4670 easily and you should be able to max out most online games (anything source)
__________________nvidia chipsets arent that great (at least on the intel side) but its a necessary sacrifice to get sli i would stick to the black edition as it should be much easier to oc you need to install 64 bit vista or xp in order to use all 4 gigs... on 32 bit os you end up with 3.5 minus whatever your video card eats also see if you can go to ddr3... the prices are almost the same now and its more future proof... performance gain is negligible but the price is almost the same so why not.. make sure u get sticks rated for 1.65v or lower... the old higher voltage sticks dont clock nearly as well

hmm the onboard sound with that mobo will be a good enough setup for gaming. you can get 7.1 from those. i would not get a discrete soundcard unless you have professional intentions with it. and like what the guys above me said, the mobo has it's own raid controller already, you just have to install the drivers.

The Phenom II 940 is down to $189 at NewEgg! Why do the 720?? At this price a no brainer.
Also, you may be better but more expensive with a midtower or large tower. The Antec 900 is around $100 and is bigger. not much room in the Antec 300. My GTX280 is kinda tight fit in my Antec 900.
