Don't know to much about AMD's, but I can tell you the rig you posted will be solid as all hell. There's not much of anything that can beat that.

Maybe going for 6gb or ram instead of 3 would be optimal for you though.

6 gigabyte RAM for sure.
3 sucks in games like GTA IV.
The Megatron is a really great cooler(Promalitech Megahalem)
Case: I don't know your case but for a Full tower the HAF 932 is a really nice option.
mobo: fine for me
PSU: I heard so so stories about thermaltake, you can't go wrong with an corsair however
GPU: get a 260 or a 275/285, the 280 is outdated.
The 260 is cheaper and still a good card
The 275 is basically a newer 280
The 285 is the best single card option atm.
Approving the CPU (keep in mind that you need to fix a D0 stepping, they overclock easier than a C0 stepping)

case : antec 902 / antec 1200 / cm haf 932
cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
cpu cooler: scythe mugen 2
ram: OCZ Platinum AMD Edition 4GB cas: 7 7 7 24
mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
psu: corsair 650 watt
gpu: xfx ati 4890

I chose the haf 932 cause its popular on here but I would get a 1200 or 902 just because the filters. I know you can add them to the cooler master but whatever.

$1,021.94 or 729 euros. Thats at newegg though and not shipping. Don't forget a dvd burner which will run around $25.

im kinda new to all that..so 2 new Qs..
A)275 would perform better than a 280?(since as u said its newer??)
B)i dont know if i can reach a d0..does it make such huge differance from c0?at ocing?

im using 3gb ram bcoz im keeping xp 32(thats possible right?) which takes advantage of 4gb ram
my ram could also be 1600mhz(crossair 3x1)
