The combo saves you 7 bucks. The SATA cable is guess... 7 bucks! I would like a free SATA cables if that is ok with you all.

Thanks Matt for the advice and answering my questions and defending my budget haha. The combo with the vanilla phenom saves you 25 bucks and the Athlon II is 87 so if I don't get the combo and buy everything separate I will be spending another 60 bucks to buy the other Phenom for 102. It is not a lot but still I have to have limits. If I agree to that then next i might be buying an i7 with a 8 Raptor Raid 1 array right

That's exactly why I had to step up and say something. I've done exactly that. I started out banking on an economical board and an economical chip. Then I found the Q6600 I have for a good price. Well...then I couldn't have something that couldn't OC it very well...and while I'm at it the board might as well support SLI. You can see where this is headed. Best of luck to you, I look forward to seeing a thread about the build. ((We all love to see new tech come out of boxes and I haven't seen a thread about that in a while...))

Ya but you know Matt, you got a real nice set up. Prolly worth the extra cash I can see how it goes. I might have funds for something better. If I do find the right build I'll will document it.

Seems okay, I am interested as why you replaced the 4850. If HD Gaming is your thing, I see it as being a large step backwards.

If Keep hunting around for deals. I just pulled the trigger on a 720be with a 790gx Asus mobo, and 4gb of DDR3 1600 ram, and a 1gb GTS 250 for like 530-550ish. I'd show you but newegg just ran out of 720 BEs. Basically, look in open box and look in the combo deals, and I promise you can work out a better system.

Is it just me or did you forget a power supply? Or did I just miss some important explanation in this thread? Just making sure I'm not the only one seeing no PSU
