Default Gaming upgrade help

Hey guys i'm back for an upgrade to my gaming rig. I'm planning on upgrading my CPU/mobo/Video Card (and ram if i have to). My budget is flexible but i can't spend too much.

Here is what I was thinking... If you think anything is overkill/underkill please let me know.

Video Card: ATI 4870

CPU: Phenom X3 720
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103649

Mobo: Not sure... is there a cheaper option ??

basically looking to spend $300-400, $450 if i have to buy ram.

Is that mobo any good? Is the 9800gtx still a great video card for new games?

one of my friends has the 9800GTX+ and it runs prety darn well on his resolution of 1680 x 1050. So i think this would be great for you,

I have heard good things about the motherboard and CPU aswell. However I'm not much of an expert on AMD.

looks good to me though, hope i helped.

Well if you want a good am3 motherboard for good cost maybe try a GX. This Foxconn A7DA-S 3.0 is the same price as your other one.

Also if you going with AMD why not use ATI for GPU? The best bang for the buck now would be with ATI. And for about 10$ more you could get this XFX 4850 1GB. Which would work better on a amd board more than nvidia would.

That's a good combo you have there, although for the price of the 9800GTX I'd recommend a GTX 260.

I would look at getting a better graphics card. The 9800 will last you a while but with the prices now you can get a 4870 1gb or similar that will last you longer.

I had Nvidia and AMD before and I had problems with it (OCing, Updating and to get it to work). So I should have said from MY experience I would go AMD ATI instead.
