Default Any last recommendations? CPU cooler?

Here's the upgrade i'm about to go with:

For $35 more i could exchange the x3 720/ddr3 for a x4 940 and ddr2. Decided to go with this and a heatsink, but I really have no idea what heatsink to get for my x3 720.

Is this good and is it compatible with my am3 cpu/mobo?

I would get a Scythe Mugen 2, It's the same price, but it cools better, and you can put the fans to exhaust out your case. And up to 4 120mm fans on it.

Also, get OCZ Freeze instead of AS5. It's easier to use. Cools better. And isn't conductive.

You might need to take off the side fan for the Xiggy to fit.

But that case should hold the Xiggy just fine.

FYI, your sig says P180.

yes that is a good heat sink for what you pay its strongly recomended around here..there is nothing wrong with you have there, although i would change that TIM to something els like MX-2 its cheaper and there is no burn in time and non-conductive...Other than that enjoy your new build...

And it doesn't matter if its AM3, AM2+, AM2 the mounting is the same ....

Edit: Took a little to long to reply....lol

thats a good deal but i was trying to save money by skimping on the mobo

That brings me to the $500 mark. For that price shouldn't i just get the x4 940, ddr2, and a decent mobo?

Its up to you but what you net from DDR3 to DDR2 isnt that big of an improvement..so if that means that you can a better mobo and the 940 then yes i would just stick with DDR2..

Nope. The PhII x4 940 is a joke & a waste. It got AMD money, but at this moment in time, their is absolutely no reason to buy it. If you are building, on a budget, you want to go with something that can expand into the next generation. So AM3 chips.

Okay lets not get carried away i do see what you are talking about as far as going for AM3 but there is nothing wrong with the 940 it clocks well and does what its suppose to do, I dont see how you can say its a joke other than the fact that its not DDR3 which is not that big of a deal for AMD...
