Default Wanted suggestions for build

Hi my dad asjed me to build him a new computer due to our old amd rig beginning to crap out.

I guess the budget is around 400$ tax/shipping included
For a tower and a monitor 19"plus

I just wanted to see what others have currently built for this price range

I'm thinking so far: amd cpu, with video, and sound card integrated.

I just want to see what some of you might recommend on a

cpu, motherboard, and ram combo

His uses for the rig
*Watching streaming videos
*dvd playback
*dvd ripping
*web browsing
*Very light duty task

*A little more info that might help you guys on your suggestions. My dad is not fairly up to date with technology. So cpu processing doesn't need to be top notch. I would like to build him a stable computer that should last him more than a few years.

Sorry if this is a little vague, i just wanted to see what you guys have built recently for around the same price range.

What i have so far is
Atx Case
Power Supply
Optical Drives
Hard drive

Thank you in advance for all the help

After some thought into the build

I came up with this.

AMD Phenom 8750 2.4GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Triple-Core Processor - Retail
ASUS M3N78-VM Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
Price:144.98
LINK:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.211752

or

AMD Phenom 8750 2.4GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Triple-Core Processor - Retail
ASUS M3A78-CM Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
price:144.98
link:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.211752

or

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition 3.1GHz Socket AM3 80W
ASUS M2A74-AM Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
price:$164.98
link:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.211677

I would probably like to go with the AMD Phenom II X2 550 build to have expandability in the future..

Oh yea I'm guessing i would like to keep the Mobo/Ram/Cpu around $250 total
Therefore giving me $150 on a nice monitor for my dad's aging eye.

Any thoughts, Thank you in advance.

The rest of the componets are from some old cases i have laying around such as the harddrive, case, psu, and optical drives.

As far as why micro atx. No specific reason really. Just happen to be the motherboard that came with the combo within what i wanted to spend.

My dad in my opinion doesn't need all the expansion-ability for a motherboard since the main purpose for a new computer is just to be able to browse the web and watch a few streamed movies. Other than that there isn't anything he doesn't that requires a lot of processing power.

This seems like the best option as upgradeability (yer i made that up) is a nice option to have.

LOL, its ok i love to learn new words. Anyways an update on the situation.

My dad ended up wanting to me purchase a dell. Which in retrospect made me a bit upset due to i could have built him one that would have the ability for future proofing none the else its all set and i would like to thank you all for all the help.
