A Corsair VX550 will be fine for that system. It's 80+ rated with a 5-year warranty and it's silent.

I'd agree with everyone else on a different monitor (Alienware is overpriced) and either MX-2 or IC Diamond for thermal paste.

Good Luck

Welcome to OCN new001. Do you live in US? If you do Newegg has much better deals than most stores.

Oh, I was under the impression that it was newer and more energy efficient. Probably because of the EarthWatts part.

So, the two Corsair power supplies are the same price, so I think I'd stick with 650w for upgradeability. However, will these fit into the Antec case's special Power Source compartment that is shut off from the rest of the case?

Also, I'll edit my OP to reflect the changes that you people have helped me make. Thanks!

I agree with everyone's post so I'm not going to post comments about anything except for your mouse. If you really plan on becoming a hardcore gamer, I highly recommend you check out the Razer Deathadder. I'm not posting this just because of my personal opinion, but also on hard-proven facts. I used to own a G5 and I thought it was great, but then after it broke, and I started to look at other mice, I began to understand just how important an optical mouse was.

All in all, laser mice will always lose to optical mice. They simply don't track as well.

I've got a mouse benchmark to prove it. As you can see, laser mice ended up being in the lower range of quality. Additionally, the Deathadder dominated all mice through all test.

Now with my personal opinion, the Deathadder is different from a G5. It feels different, and is shaped differently. I personally liked both shapes and feels, but how the Deathadder is different is it's just so much more responsive. I've been getting more frags with this mouse than I ever thought I would while PC gaming. It really is a truly different experience.

If you don't like the Deathadder, you can always get the slightly worse MX518, which, as you can see through the scores, is the 3rd best mouse. The MX500's are hard to find and since MX518 are much more mainstream, I suggest you give those a try too.

Good luck with your build.

After this, I think I'm done! Which monitor would you guys recommend?

LG 23" 1080p 2ms Monitor with 50,000:1 Contrast Ratio- recommended by you guys.

However, the following monitor has incredibly similar specs minus the contrast ratio:

ASUS 23" 1080p 2ms Monitor with 20,000:1 Contrast Ratio- the ratio says "ASCR"

So, will I notice a difference with the Asus that is $40 cheaper but has a lower contrast ratio? Thanks a bundle!

I'm guessing you should notice a big difference. The contrast ratio of the LG monitor is more than 2x that of the ASUS.

That's what I was thinking, but I also believe that I have read somewhere that contrast ratio becomes just a number after a certain point, when our eyes don't notice anymore? If that's not true, I'll stick with the LG, though...
