Ok all components necessary to get the puter up and running must be included in the total for this face off... We'll assume everyone has a mouse and keyboard(personally I have too many) everything else minus OS is required. I'll go first...
Combo: 1. AMD HDX945FBGIBOX: $225.00 2. ASUS M4A78T-E: $139.99 3. Corsair (XMS Series) TW3X4G1600C9DHX: $104.99 4. SAMSUNG HD103UJ: $84.99 Combo Discount: -$125.00 Applicable MIRs: $15 MIR #1 $15 MIR #2 Total combo $399.97 after MIRs, + S/H for me was under $10. Next case, PSU and optical drive: Lian Li PC-A05NB for $75 shipped after promo code : EMCLVMV38 Antec EA430 430w "80 Plus" PSU for $42 shipped free after promo code : EMCLVMV46 Sony Optiarc SATA DVD Burner *ROM* $25 shipped at ZZF. or SAMSUNG SH-S223B 22X SATA DVD Burner for $28 shipped at ZZF. Total: $430 + $75 + $42 + 25 = $572 - 2x $15 MIRs = $542 + S/H(~$8) ~ $550 Optional Items: discrete gfx card reader floppy drive sound card OS/SW headphones/speakers aftermarket Heatsink(s) aftermarket Fan(s) ECT Recycle an old GFX card and/or wait for DX11 and your set! I never thought a quad core build with top of line components(well the samsung drive is debatable) could be had for PQI, ECS, Raidmax, chaintec, ect prices... Oh, If you want to include optional items go right ahead, just color code their cost as green and keep separate from the total basic build. Perhaps this will expend to include completely decked out budget builds?

Why would you put DDR3 in a budget build? Yes, it's a combo, but the switch to a cheaper case, a cheaper motherboard, and DDR2 would save you enough money to throw in an 8800GT/GT250.

![]() For me, you'd have to beat my grand total by $100+ to warrant switching out quality components. Also, AM3 + DDR3 *knocks on wood* should be more "future proof".

Dude, you got ripped off. I bought an almost identical setup from NCIX (and paid for shipping) for hundreds less. Did you pricematch them?
