Hello.

Please remember to only bump every 24 hours.

That's a good build. A really good build.

If I were you, I'd get an aftermarket heatsink too, so you can overclock. Don't want to waste that awesome RAM.

I'd get the Scythe Mugen 2, it's much cheaper than any other cooler for an AMD socket that offers such good performance.

Other than that, it's great!

Thanks. Sorry, only reason I bumped it is because I kind of need a fast answer, and I included the hyperlinks to the parts too so its not a waste of a bump.

So you think its a good build for $600? MY only two question marks are really the Motherboard and power supply.

I wouldnt pay 125 for a 9800gtx, or gt250 as they are now called. Can find wd black drives for better prices with more space. Would also spend my money on a better psu as that 550 for 65 is a rip off.

Heh, don't apologise, I've done it myself, I've even seen senior mods do it.

And yes, I do like that build. Antec make pretty solid power supplies, and the motherboard you have selected, while it isn't the best, will still give a fairly decent overclock.

I'm actually going to be getting an Antec PSU soon.

Edit: Powercolor 4870 with a free game - $135, easily worth the extra $10.

Cheapest black I found was $64.99. And thats for 500gb. Its a good reputable brand, which is why I chose it. Do you have any recommendations on a different PSU? Since it's modular I'm sure the price is somewhat based off that.

What about a different graphics card? Which would you go with? without increasing the price.

Ah, he's going to be playing flightsim. I'll probably just tell him to get the 4870 recommended above.(or below in my post.) I looked at the Corsair, however it was $35 difference for a lot of power that would be unused...

Ah, will the antec 550 run a 4870? I'm assuming it would...

Yep.

For reference, Swiftes, a member here, had his Q6600 overclocked to 3.6GHz, a GTX 260 and a water cooling loop, all powered off of a VX450.

People tend to hugely over-estimate power needs.
