update-

i ordered the XFX-Radeon HD 4850 1G, 4 sticks of 2Gig-G.Skill (compatible per gigabyte site "F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK"), and LG Blu-ray Reader & DVD/CD Burner.

all that i really need now is a good sound card, but i will use onboard for now. i also want a blu-ray burner, but i will get later this year. i think that i will be satisfied with the card, but i may add or swap out later.

i will start a new installation thread this weekend.

btw- since newegg is in Tennessee, close to the ups regional distribution center in Memphis. i live in baton rouge la. regular ups ground from newegg "always" gets to me next day.

I am making a similar build. Just need to finalize the mobo/GPU. I picked G.Skill for memory.

I know, why not 5870. Because you can X-fire two of these for one 5870. Wait for the price drop.

I will be getting one for Xmas.

Ive got a 700W and lots of gizmos and still running fine. 2 normal hard drives, 1 raptor, 2 SSD's, 2 optical drives, overclocked processor, 7x120mm fans, 1x200mm fan, sound card, lots of USB peripherals, and 2 HD4870's in crossfire. 700W holds up very well. Not sure if its overkill or not, that depends on what the future holds. You can hit up some PSU calculators and see how much headroom you have. Choose the PSU last so you can get the best qualty for the wattage range you want.

Another thing to consider is modular cables on the psu. I wish I had those!
