Default My first build... "Kuma"

I just got my first build up and running with vista home premium and ran into some snags...

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119188

Motherboard : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128394

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103300

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220334

Single GFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143187

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136075
+500 GB Seagate Barracuda Both SATA

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817148027

I put this beast together and got vista home premium 64 bit installed and everything ran without a problem. Then I noticed my Ram was only 800 MHz so I went into the bios and changed it from 400 to 533

Saved and restarted computer and all the sudden my pc freezes up after saying the DMI was updated successful. I changed bios back to default and still get same thing.

Any ideas? I hope my pc is fine

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Have you got it figured out yet. Your power supply what can I say other then Oh no. Cheap works but you get what you pay for.

Your power supply is one of the most important componants in your system. With that said from hear on our you should never skimp on a power supply ever again.

Have you tried running a scan on your ram to make sure it is good w/memtest86+ also have you run a HDD scan w/your HDD software tools to make sure you don't have a bad boot sector or other bad sectors for all that matters.

Possible causes
  1. Ram timmings or inadequate voltage to ram.
  2. Poor power can cause issues
  3. bad ram can cause issues
  4. bad hdd can cause issues
  5. OS may need to be repaired or a fresh copy installed may be in order
  6. badly seated or dirty cards or ram modules and slots can cause issues
remove your ram and reseat it. remove your video card and reseat it. unplug you power supply and plut it back in to your mobo vid card etc. Report back your findings.

Memtest86+ can be googled. Your HDD manufacture should have diagnostic tools for download. Last thing your power supply I would link a facepalm smiley but I don't know where to find one.

Check your ram voltage is set right in bios. It might not be the original 1.8v for 533mhz, usually it is 1.9-2.0v for the maximum performance. I suggest you also set lantecies manually to the right values.

^^yup, check the packaging and set the timings and voltages to what the packaging says for the 1066. So 2.1 and 5-5-5-15

Thanks a lot I have re-seated everything but the GFX card and got it to work. I am running some tests with Hirens Boot CD 10 and then I will re-seat GFX and Tuner card.

Yea I was on a budget when I built the PC and I really didn't think the PSU really mattered when it came to performance, I do now lol.

Thanks a lot I got the ram to work on 533 by manually adjusting the voltage to 2.1

However there are no settings in the bios to change the timings? As soon as my tests are done running I will post the settings it auto set them on

Thanks again for all the help guys!!!

That don't look to bad. You are running right at about DDR1066 but your timings could be a little tighter. I am not familiar w/the bios on your board so it's hard for me to say if you have any settings for your ram but I can't imagine there not being any settings. Have you tried to set the option for your ram timings from auto to maual to see if it opens more memory options for you?
