Default My first AMD water cooled rig...

so as the title states this is my first water cooling rig, and also the first time i get to fire up all my new computer parts. I currently dont have a case for water cooling but thats ok as i can deal with the bits and peices on my desk until my new case comes.

so far everything is stock and i couldnt wait to do a leak test so i set everything up and got her running. I used alot of rags under the CPU to make sure if its leaking I would know. Also using UV reactive tubing and distilled water with HydrX by swiftech...which is nothing more than ethylene glycol for corrosion proof.

anyway on to the build, err uh pictures

OK so far i have:

AMD Phenom II 955B.E.

MSI NF980-G65...the new AMD sli board

4GB G.Skill ripjaw memory...CL7-7-7-24

Coolermaster CPU block, with 240mm Coolermaster radiator

D-Tek DB-1 pump

Fesser 1/2I.D. Blue reactive tubing....5ft

Various types of connectors

1ft of 1/4" clear pvc tubing....used to make sure pump is working correctly

my own custom reservoir.... just a old pretzel jar that i cut holes into for fitings and using this seeing as the t-line wasnt working for me.

Pics will follow. and sorry about the delay i accidentaly unhooked my pump from the power supply thus overheating the cpu and shutting my ssytem down. after about 30 minutes checking and double checking all the connectors i realized it was just the power plug

D'oh

I'am not too certain about the coolermaster block and rad but I'am not up to date with liquid.

If its the one I'm thinking of it looks like it might just be a re-branded D-Tek block.

Ok so after much delay i have everything up and running without any issues....maybe just a few since im still using my old hard drive without doing a reformat but thats another day. anyway here are some pictures

This was my old system.... AMD 9550 2.2 Ghz, 8 GB ram

My new setup:

Cooler Master CPU block....I couldnt wait to fire her up so i placed napkins under CPU block along with a waterproof membrane to prevent any shorts if it leaked

Here is everything set up, I know its sloppy and what not but what can you do when your case isnt made for watercooling...new case is already ordered and just waiting for it to come.

Front of case... couple of switches for uv light. still gotta find the rest of the drive covers

Closeup of my made reservoir, took a while to get it leak proof but works like a charm. I have a 3inch X 6 inch clear piece of plexi inside the container to prevent the incoming water from creating bubbles and getting into the loop.

DB-1 pump doing all the hard work...waiting for new case before i hard mount it
