Default New System Draft...Thoughts?

First Post! ^^

Enywayz, This'll be the first computer to be built by yours truly. Upgrading from an HP desktop from 2007 with dare I say it...1GB Ram and onboard graphics. Anything will blow that outta the water, that's for sure! Only thing I'm keeping from that is the monitor, which, to my knowledge, has a max res of 1280x1080. 5850's overkill for that I know, but I will be upgrading to an LG Flatron 24" some day.

Well, Thar she is:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955BE 3.2Ghz
MoBo: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Motherboard
RAM: OCZ 4GB DDR3-10666 Platinum Edition CL7
GFX Card: XFX HD 5850
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 922
PSU: Corsair 750HX PSU
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (103SJ)
DVD-RW: LG GH22NS DVD-RW
CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 2
Case Fans: Xigmatek XLF-F1253 120mm x3
OS: Windows 7

I will be going dual crossfire with another 5850 in the near future. I've got dust filters as well, to put on the fans so no worries there. Oh and would I be able to hit 4Ghz with air? One of my friends informs me that he only got his 955 to 3.8Ghz stable. Or is he just not a pro overclocker like myself Oh and you guys to, I guess

Thanx in advance guys for any recommendations and praise?.

Great choice of products. the only thing i would suggest with your future plan is to get a powersupply in the 800watt range. With only one of those video cards i would say the 750 is fine but if your planing on getting 2 of those video cards you will need power to make sure things will run smoothly and not have to worry about a lack of power.

i have to agree, i feel as though it is always better to buy a psu that will handle this and your next upgrade

quite a few of people i talk to whom ask me about building a computer will almost always for get about a PSU or get one that is low in wattage and the cheapest one. PSU is essentally the most important part in your computer, u can wreak your money pool of parts.

Hey guyz, thanks for the replies.

According to some wattage calculators I've been on, 750W would be enough, with room to spare, for two 5850's at full load as well as an 955 overclocked and all my other components. Do you have power consumption benchmarks? Oh and thanato, just because this will be the first time I'm building a computer for myself doesn't mean I'm a noob to it all. Lol HX750 cheap...*Ahem* Sorry for shunning the advice I'm just a little over budget as it is, so is the extra €24 for the HX850 worth it?

That is all.

The closes you get to a PS's max load the more you get variations in power quality and more PS heat which adds to the issue.
Good ocing is dependent on good power.

looks good... i would if budget allows step up to a crosshair III formula and use the free sound card ^^

i personally don't understand why people are recommending a 750+ W PSU - aren't the 5850's really low power consumers?

They are at idle but on load, no.

Also do you have to have a HX? The Corsair 850TX is cheaper then the 750HX and you get more power.
