Well, some people says it increases crashes, but I have yet to get one BSOD; I've had the page file off for about 8 years now, with XP and Windows 7.

Others say it prevents Windows from sending crash reports to Microsoft. That's probably true, but if it doesn't crash, reports don't need to be sent.

All I know is that it feels much snappier to me, and it always has. I want my RAM to be RAM, not my hard drive.

I wouldn't really recommend it, but you could try. It won't hurt anything, and you could just put it back on, OP.
This being said, 4 Gb is enough for everything, except if you plan to use your rig as a major encoding/photoshop rig of death, since no games can take up 4 Gb, EVEN CRYSIS.
