The system in my sig was around $600 if you take out the OS and factor in rebates. I can't say enough good things about the 720BE.

You could get a hd 4870 for $50 less and better performance you would only have dx 10.1 though.

I don't see any $100 4870s.

What would be the performance difference? 256 bit ram interface?

The 5770 performs a tiny bit better than the 4870, but the 5770 runs cooler and has DX11. Both 1GB cards are about the same price new. Get the 5770 if you are buying new.

Came down to all the features I want over performance out of the box. The dual dvi is a must.
