Help me figure out an HTPC build
Uses: -Future Bluray playback (don't include BR player in this build) -1080p playback support -MediaPortal -I'd like it to max out GRiD and I'll be a happy camper Yes, I want it to game and I want it energy friendly. Gotta be quiet also. I have put these few parts together: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=11102445 Feel free to critique.

Looks pretty good, I would highly recommend and after market cooler for the CPU. Antec makes good quiet cases with efficient power supplies. Since you want to game I would say this build works. If gaming isn't a big concern I would skip the GPU and go with a 785g mobo, the north bridge will play 1080p no problem.

Only other thing I would add is that with that GPU cooler going over the top like that, your PCI-Ex1 slot would be blocked. Might be a concern if you need a tuner card.

Replace the CPU with a Athlon II X2 235e (45w, 2.7GHz).

+1
45w = cooler, quieter and will still play everything without a hitch.

I am considering keeping my current PSU, and 2x1TB Spinpoints (with an addition of another 1TB).
