Here are a few ideas for your new puter.....

CPU - Look into the Athlon II quads, from what I've read they overclock pretty well, and compare with the Phenoms for less money. Either way, you'll be in good shape.

Mobo - seeing how your not a gamer, I doubt you'll ever have the need to crossfire GPU's. You could save about $50 if you went with the 770 instead of the 790x. I actually just ordered a 770. Again though, either are good choices.

1 TB hard drive? With a weaker VGA, I'm wondering what exactly you plan on storing? Unless you absolutely know you're going to have two hundred thousands songs or 5000 movies, you could save some cash with a 500GB. Also, you could go with a green or even a blue if your not planning on doing anything to intensive. I'd stick with the black.

GPU - Now with some cash freed up from your CPU/Mobo/HDD, you can afford a GPU worthy of a $1000 build. You say your not a gamer, but you wanted a 1TB HDD so are you wanting to watch movies? If your going to spend the money, and have a nice wide screen monitor, you should up grade to a mid range, and I would think about ATI to match your AMD system.

Case/PSU - Get whatever you think looks good. From what people say, Antec is always a good choice. Same with Corsair, everyone seems to think it's the shiz, and that many people can't be wrong can they?

Mouse/Keyboard - Laser/Wireless

Goodluck!!

And.....

If you still want the Nvidia, why not look into GB's Nvidia integrated board? Has integrated mem for the GSU and would save you some money if you're not after optimum graphics. I think it's their 790GX model. They also have an ATI with the side port mem also.

I would get the MA790XT since it takes DDR3 over DDR2. Just a little more future proof.

Not to mention DDR3 is basically the same price or just a little bit more than DDR2 now a days. It would make sense to spend the extra $20 instead of upgrading everything in the future.

For $620 at Newegg, I was able to get a Xclio Windtunnel, Sapphire 5770, 2gb G.Skill pc3 12800, 2 500GB WD greens, Asus EVO AM3 790X with a Athlon II x4, Corsair 650 and a Sony DVD r/rw.

Add in 2 LG wide screens locally and I'm still well under $1000. Key is finding combos on Newegg that get you nicer stuff for the same price or less then what you want to spend. It takes time but it's worth it, I wouldn't have been able to get the 5770, the Evo or the Corsair had I not found them in combos.

Finding the list of combos or finding what you want?

The combos link is half way down the page when your viewing any particular item. Just follow it to see what they are pairing the item up with.

From what I can tell they change them fairly often, so check every so often.

Example, I was planning on getting the best PSU I could find for $80. I ended up putting an Earthwatts 600 in my cart. Looking through the combos for my GPU, I found a Corsair 650 that was $30 more then the Earthwatts regularly, but with the combo it was the same price. You just gotta look through each item you decide on and see what's offered. It's like solving a puzzle, certain combos of combos saves more money.

Everything I bought was part of a combo except my case and DVD. PSU/GPU, CPU/HDD, RAM/MOBO, each with around $20 off.
