I bet you guys here would let your friend go home with a fat chic.

My Guide to building any PC

You don't need to ask here about any board before you copy and past it into Google with review after it. Get the pros opinion on every part you buy then take it with a grain a salt and buy what you like. Buy the biggest you can afford before the price on what ever part your buy jumps like if a 1tb drive is 89 and a 1.5 is 109 great. Don't do the jump to the 2tb at 209. get the picture. I have been buiding Pc's since Win 3.1 and that's how you build the best bang for the buck PC. Also buy some used stuff for love of god!! New stuff breaks more then used. Don't think of it as used think of it as bench tested. And the case used is a given it can't really wear out now can it. Just don't buy one that hacked to bits and missing all its parts. Most of the time the used case can cut a bunch off your build plus get some cool stuff like better fans, cool mods. I just built 2 PC's for me and my wife and saved more then your trying to spend just on our cases My CM stacker 75 bucks and it had 40 bucks worth a fan upgrades that would have been a 240 for my case. My wife's Lian Li $300 and over a 150 bucks in mods and goodies. I paid a $100 for the case it even smelled new and it came with ever nut and bolt Sound Proofing Window mods fan mods and filters . I have not bought a new Part for a PC unless I have no choice. Just remember the more it cost new the less its worth. you want a comb try this on newegg.

Foxconn Blackops 75 bucks brand New!! No open box crap (Newegg) OH ya sometimes there OK, but there not the bible on PC gear. I have had better deals on Amazon and and Zip zoom Fly and SVC. WATER STUFF TRY JABA TECH SCREW (PCS)
Q9550 $165 EBAY Babe Oh ya
Ocz 850 watt PSB 49.00 (SVC)
Memory We had sorry but that don't matter find out whats working here in the form once you decide on a board
Case Lian Li modded 100.00 Craigslist Local
XFX 4870 1Gb XXX card 80 Bucks with invoice Craigslist
Don't put your OS on nothing but a Raptor or SSD if you got the bucks Never Never put your storage on the same drive as you OS NEVER!!!!! Got that real important!! Small fast drives for the OS then buy whats on sale for the rest there will be deals coming up in the next month that will make your toes curl. They will be killing them self this year to have you buy there stuff trust me here! I always rebuild at this time every year. 10 years now and running. Used as well as new deals will be all over the place
GPU be smart grab on of those real nice 4870x2 that all the geeks well dumping like flys because they just got to have that 5870 or 295 or what every the green team is got going on right now. Who cares there nothing out there it can't run anyway and soon you will be snacking them up for under 200. I got mine for 210. Let the Gotta have the best guys buy that stuff and test for us real nice and make sure it works good *LOL*
Last don't settle for 2nd best go Intel used rather then AMD New. A used clocked and cooking Intel will run circles around anything you can buy new from AMD. I have never lost a CPU in since 1998 because it just quit . I think the only one I ever lost was due to a faulty CPU fan hold down. If a CPU dies Trust me You Did it! not the CPU.
When you buy stuff think about this too what is it going to worth when I get tired of it. Dump it when you see new stuff getting ready to come out before (The Not knows) figure out what happened. Read about whats going on and get the jump on the price drop.

The 2 hands down best chips for the money are the Q9550 around 165 and the I7 920 at around 220 but don't rule out dual core there still is hardly anything a a clocked e8400 can't run for about a 110 bucks if you look. All of these are hitting up to 4.5 Ghz I just seen one right here. Don't buy into the hype on 20 cores %90 of the software Can't use it anyway. I really don't even notice when I upgrade from one chip to the next because its every year and my software and Hardware moves together. Don't wait till your stuff is worthless like AMD 939 stuff its better to ditch the stuff and add a bit to it and upgrade when the deal come around. One more thing never become faithful to any manufacture. They don't give a rats back side about you trust me. So ask yourself this every time you buy there stuff WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME Lately!!~! Great today maybe crap tomorrow. AMD and Intel next week it just might be the other way around. Oh ya and Opinions everybody's got one Including me. most don't mean much maybe even this one.

Good Luck On your build and remember have fun.

Check this out.

The x3 you liked with an ASUS EVO 790X for $210.....
AMD/EVO Combo

This combo is about $20 cheaper then your x3/Gigabyte bought separately, and the EVO is actually a more expensive board then the Gigabyte!

Not sure what exactly you mean by everything else, have you changed anything in your original shopping list? If not I would say you'd be fine with it.

I just bought one last week, from my own research, it seems to be solid, no glaring compatibility issues or unresolved issues. I haven't actually used it myself, so don't take this as a formal endorsement or anything, but I don't see you going wrong with it, or the GB for that matter. The GB 790x was actually my second choice, and it was close!

Now, if you're like me, and you want 3 hdd's with 6 or 7 os's, the ASUS may be the better choice. From my understanding, ASUS is the best bet for that scenario, which is why I went with it.

Funny the guy I wrote if for seemed to like it just fine. Didn't your Mama teach you if you can say something nice, shut your Pie Hole!!! There is a reason for that saying because most of the time someone opens there mouth the put someone down, Chances are your going to look stupid and its better to remain quite and keep them guessing then prove what they thought all along.
