CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 2.6 GHZ Quad Core
Mobo:ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO Case:Antec Nine Hundred RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB PSU- Sigma Shark 635W Optical: LG DVD Burner 22X OS: Win7 Enterprise Extra thoughts: Will be putting in a GPU after the first of the year. Probably 1Gb on the video. Wont be anything too fancy though. This rig will not be overclocked, but would consider this processor also: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. This is my first build completely from the ground up...

Looks solid. You're into gaming are you? Just wanted to be sure. And you will be using the onboard graphics for a while till you get a video card?
I am a bit suspicious of the PSU. I would recommend on getting an Antec or Corsair PSU. Otherwise, good solid build.

Yeah, not alot of gaming. But I like to play when ever I get free time. L4D and some COD. Yes, I think the onboard will be fine, and I might throw in one of my 256mb card until i upgrade... Thanks for the advice on the PSU. Will consider changing that.
AMD FTW! |

Very good build. Tell us a little about what u are going to do with it. And I agree with raisethe3 about PSU... Definitely get a higher quality one such as Antec or Corsair.

Solid build that you'll get for a great price! I would recommend the upgrade to the 955, but if budget gets in the way don't worry about it.

I would really wait for the Phenom II x2 555. Early batches almost always unlock.

Yeah will definately be researching the PSU the a little more now!
Hm well it will be used for gaming, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty, the occasional CSS or Team Fortress game. And the usual overclock.net browsing and itunes. Might hook up my old tv tuner card and hook the pc up to my tv through hdmi and try that out for a while. My current HP desktop has been bsod on my all week. And its a combination of bad memory, bad mobo, and bad psu. So between all of those I will scrap what I can and possibly turn the rest of it into a Windows Home Server?? |
