So, I've been picking out the components for a computer I plan on building in the next coming weeks. I'm pretty set on my GFX card decision, which is the Radeon 4890.
Looking around on the internet, I have been unable to get a straight answer as to what kind of PSU I need for this proposed build. I recently switched from something better than what I originally had (a ~$40 380W), and now tentatively am going with the Corsair 650W below. However, I'm trying to keep a tight <$800 budget, so if I could shave a little money off anywhere, I'd like to.
Also, If you experienced guys could just look over my build and tell me what you think, I'd appreciate it a lot.
Here's what I have going so far:
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz
GFX Card: XFX HD-489X-ZSFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit
Mobo: ASUS M4A77TD AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 RC-534-KKN2-GP Black Aluminum & Mesh bezel / SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Opitical Drive: LITE-ON DVD Writer - Bulk - Black SATA Model iHAS224-06 LightScribe
Is the PSU overkill? Could I go cheaper? Or is it just right? Also, I see it says it's compatible with i7, but it will work just fine with my Athlon CPU, correct?
