I need to sell this one and work for a few days to get the new computer... I might cut out the sound card and the extra DVD ROM for now, which would bring me down about $100.

What do you think?

I agree, no reason to have dual drives any more.

Whats wrong with that similarr skt939 rig you have now? AM2 is not really an upgrade, its money down the drain IMO. Theres little to no performance gains.....and they havn't been out very long, so they are likely to be plauged with all sorts of bugs.

If I were you, I woud get an extra single gig of G.Skill and a 7900gt.

That's not even an upgrade from what you currently have.

The main reason for me to upgrade is for the little things. For almost no net cost I can get
Newer gen socket with less TDP,
gigabit ethernet(which really helps at lans),
a bigger hard drive,
a gigabyte MORE RAM than I have now (and more bandwidth on that ram),
a newer gen and comparable video card to what I have now,
a more powerful PSU (and Rosewill is dependable, btw),
and a larger motherboard for more expansion and better overclocking ability than my mATX.

That's why I want to upgrade.

Question: Isn't a 7600GT about the same at a 6800GT or GS?

If you say so, but for what you're getting its not nearly worth $1,000.

EDIT: If you sold your system as is, you might get around $550.

BTW, a 7600GT is better than a 6800Ultra
