Well I got some good stuff yesterday and today--from CoolerGuys.com I got the UV lights I have benn wating on and a slew of round IDE cables--I mean lots and lots of copper sheathed ata133 goodness.

Today the FedEx guy finally found my house and delivered a prett large box full of all the stuff for modding Claw--except the damn Bulgin switches--I mean everything but those $20 switches! I called them pronto and the switches are beng sent priority mail.

Got some interesting mods coming up--just waiting for a few hours when I am not changing a diaper or making a bottle so I can get out the jigsaw and whack the side panel with a round window.

Got two different kinds of window molding from FrozenCPU--a clear UV blue kind that looks really wierd--never seen it on a case so maybe it's not wierd but fugly--and the stadar black kind--except it is obviously some sort of automoitve molding being adapted to this prupose--a true H molding would look cleaner IMO. will post some pics as soon as I can get the UV lights running.

Also got the PSU connector change-over kit so I can change all the black connectors to UV blue. Also got some nice 18" SATA cables that are sliver like the XConnect wiring--but I had them sheathed in UV blue.

I also got an LED "meteor" light to see how that works--not really into flashing blinking lights all that much--but I thought it might be a little better or differernt than the CCL deal.

Got the LED case handles--Sunbeam product--not sure if they will look good on the case--the case has no chrome parts so adding some acrylic and chrome handles might look tacky. At least I get 4 wired LEDs out of the deal if I do not use the handles.

Really a little ticked about the switches not being here--the sheathed cables for the switches arrived--but the switches were left behind. Slackers.

Will post some pics soon--no time to tear apart the rig tongiht so maybe Friday would be a good night to go modding again!

Seriously, your son is one lucky kid.

BTW, you are officially the inspiration on Blown Fury... You will get recognition on paint scheme.

I only hope my rig comes out half as good as yours.

Talking of an inspiration! You inspired me to order, rewire, and sleeve my cables, not to mention the fact that you even got me to order and contemplate a setup with blue EL wire. Man, I just can't let you belittle my rig that badly

So you found a case? Great! Appreciate the kind words--look forward to seeing how it comes out!

Yes Chozart I am...and he does seem to like it--when the box arrived yesterday he was the one who opened it and took the stuff out--he especially liked stacking the bottles of Dust Off in a neat row--might have a little OCZD like te old man...LOL

And little feller I'm glad you are breaking out the EL wire--I guess I better hurry up and do that window mod so I won't just be copying you...LOL

Lot's of fun coming up this weekend for me anyway--going to get Claw looking like something and slay some bandwidth with this thread....

Thanks Guys! I always enjoy your encouragement!

Talking Killing it--from Dusk till Dawn the Mods Go On

Well I got started at aroun 7 pm last night and finished at 5 am this morning--just finished uploading these to the host--I think this is the nicest looking Rig I have built to date--enjoy the photo blast below...LOL

Painted Silverstone121 to match cabling

Removed the Silverstone fand speed ocntroller from the 3.5 plate.

Drilled a hole between the HDD and Power LEDs

Mounted controller in front panel--it looks like it was always there...

Here the IDE and SATA cables are in place, the fan is remounted, The UV CCL and Meteorlights are mounted and tha cables have been sheathed or spiral wrapped and routed. I also sheathed and routed all the cables hidden inside the front panel. I de-molexed the lights and fans and used UV heatshrink instead--an easy and effective way to remove 4 molexes from the overall effect.

Here is the side no one ever sees...LOL PSU is installed--decided to leave the black connectors on--I mounted the DVD burner in the highest bay which leaves a nive 1/2" space to conceal the unused PCIe leads and the other SATA lead. Those three leads are the only hidden and unused leads in the system--I eliminated or used every connector leaving only the molex jumper from the Silverstone CPU fan and the jumper from the case fan bus to allow for expansion (EL wire yet to come!)

At this point I have been going about 9 hours and it is about 4 am--I have relocated and recabled every device--after removing and reinstalling all those plug ends to sheath and heatshrink all the cables I have to wonder if "is it going to work?" It was a lot of fun and the only time I have the house to myself is at the wee hours--the room looked like a mod shop that exploded--clipped ties and bits of sheathing and heatshrink and screw and molexes and stuff everywhere. I decided to clean up before powering up--that way if it was totally hosed at least I wouldn't be so bummed cleaning up...LOL

Much to my relief everything works! The cabling I thought might not be UV reactive is way UV reactive--the camera cannot capture the effect--it looks like a golwing mold or fuzz has grown on every reactive part--really crazy, The meteor light is a lot stronger than I had hoped and really fills out the side. It has about 8 different patterns--but I like it on solid.

The flash from the camera kills the fuzzy glow--but it reveals a little more of the detail--the cables like hot!

Buzzing!

Head On! The three mesh bay inserts give a nice view into the guts,,,

Really happy about eh results so far--next I have front panel switches to mod in--Should be here today--they forgot to pack them (those slackers) or I would have prolly never gone to bed..LOL--and I picked up the plexi for the side panel window--that should be fun--gonna slip the Elwire in the molding before inserting the plexit so it glows...more to follow.

Hope you are enjoying this as much I am...

CyberD
