Claw is getting a new home and some spiffy new upgrades as well--having done active duty in the inaugaral launch of Crunch, the Clawhammer 3200+ and Gigabyte Socket 754 K8NSpro are moving on up to a private room in an Aerocool case that looks like a jet engine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811196021
![]() The ancient 32MB ATI Vcard is getting refitted with an unlocked 850 to provide appropriate eye candy. A pair of SATA 80 gig drives will provide an opportunity to do some relevant benching with RAID 0 and the other 8 IDE drives will reside in the copious bay space of the Aerocool case. I have a plethora of IDE drives--and I thought it would be fun to see how many one mobo could run. I was toying with the notion of putting some Soundblaster goodness into the beast for true multimdia versaltility--but with 10 drives this new rig is not likely to be transported anywhere. I also ordered the ubiquitous Big Typhoon and Silverstone 121 so cooling down the Clawhammer should go a little better after that. No doubt the Enermax 350 currently driving Claw will have to be upgraded as well--but I thought I would push it to the limits first. This is going to be my first AMD build in a conventional sense--I pretty much plugged Fishies old board in and started using it--this will be a completely rebuilding of it into a proper Rig--doing more than just folding. Looking forward to seeing how far I can OC the Claw with massive cooling.

It seems lke a decent set up (I would not know being an Intel guy) so with the unlocked 850 I should be able to hang with some of the lowe end gamers...LOL
Got a friend coming up this weekend bringing his two rigs to rebuild recase and mod--so I should be a weekend of PC building--like 7 of them actuallly including all the other parts I have ordered

Like a kid in a toy box...been scheming on this for quite a while--every time I order a part I try to get something else I might need later--a fan, a cold cathode UV light, some sheathing--so over the years I developed a decent modders bin to rummage through--but after all the recent activity I am down on miscellaneous stuff--I mean basics like round IDE cables and zipties...LOL
Time to re-up! That Gigabyte board really impressed me--two IDE RAID controllers--SATA RAID controller--lots of Options in BIOS. It needs to do more than Fold 24/7--it needs to have a Big Typhoon hanging off it and a massive OC coursing through it's circuitry. I usually lust after whatever Lian Li I can afford (like the $89.99 ones) but that AeroCool looked like it might have a slight potential for modding--a circular window around the giant side panel fan with EL wire around the rim is one idea. UV CCL lights hidden in the front edges of the interior to make the sheathing glow is another. I was looking at the turbine type fans to replace the front fan--but I haven't even seen the front fan yet--it might be cool looking already. Not real crazy about the little flap things that pass for a front door--So I might have to do something with that--either eliminate them and load the front bays with cool stuff (like a 5" LCD) or add to them and make the front look different. That's all down the road a ways--just need a place to park that nice Gigabyte board so I can finish up another major PC project.

Hit my three favorite mod stops...Xoxide, FrozenCPU and CoolerGuys to pick up some UV reactive Heatshrink, cable wrap, sheathing, some UV lights, and a few other odds and ends-- resisted getting any over-priced 5.25 bay fillers--there are some cool ones. The aerocool gatewatch would look sharp in the top two bays...but $60 for a fan controller is ridicuous--I could put a 5" LCD in for that money.
I'll be loooking for the UPS guy everyday now! EDIT: almost forgot these guys--Shawn McGrail shot me that link a year ago-- http://www.mnpctech.com/casemodstore.html

http://www.mnpctech.com/120mmRadiatorFanGrill.html ordered that from mnpctech last night--gonna put it in the top of the Jet case. Went ahead and got UV blue sheathing for the cables and lots of UV blue heatshrink tubing. Did not get any EL wire--decided to wait until I got the window started first.
Checked the shipping status moments ago and almost everything is in Virginia now--won't be too long--should have the case this weekend--my friend is coming up so we can have a well-documented modfest. Went and got a canopy so I have some sort of a place to work without getting alternately broiled and drenched...LOL. Really looking forward to building a wierd looking jet Rig. Got some stealth lighting tricks I want to showcase. Pictures soon!
