Is it possible to get a bad Opty 144 CACJE? I seem to have hit a brick wall, stock volts gets to 275, 1.5v gets to 285, but even 1.63v won't drive 290. I've kept my mem clear out of the equation by setting it to 100. Max temps are 55.

Actually, I have an Opty 144 CACJE, supposedly a good stepping. My question is: Is it possible to get a bad CACJE stepping? Or am I 'guaranteed' to get 2.8 to 3.0 ghz (provided nothing else in the system is holding it back)? Because I can't get mine beyond 2.45ghz. So, I'm in troubleshoot mode; bad processor? bad PSU? bad mobo?

In my experience, there's only one "guarantee" in overclocking: There's no such thing as a guarantee, specifically when trying to hit a specific CPU top speed. There are just too many variables involved.

Mine right now at 2.7 Ghz with no volt mods(both on processor and mobo) at all and it keeps under goes to like 43C at load for 12 hours.

I'm pretty sure I can push to 3 Ghz if I wanted to...

EDIT:Oh it's also a CCBBE forgot that it's not in my sig

My CCBBE also clocks to 2.7GHz with no voltage modification. I need to run 1.5v to get to 3.0GHz personally

To keep temps reasonable i run 2.8GHz at 1.40v

What kind of stepping should I get if I wanna get an FX57? Is a mid-05 CABYE pretty decent?

Does anyone know if a LCB9E 0646RPMW overclocks well? I have been looking at numerous Opteron stepping threads and cant find any of the L series chips on em.
