I found this and thought you people here with Opteron Single and Dual core alike would find this interesting. This is not all of my own work so I cannot take full credit for this thread. The sources mentioned below deserve much credit. I felt one location of useful information would be beneficial.

When submitting CPU OC info please include the following when possible

1.CPU Used
2.CPU Stepping
3.V-core in use at current Overclock
4.Current Overclocked speed

Now Lets tell you exactly what the Letters and numbers mean in a Stepping Code:

What do the letters mean?

For Example CCBBE

CCBBE
1st letter: "production/release code"
Pre-production or early samples have an "A" here where final production batches will be a "C" (for current chips). Some may recall that Venice samples where seen in the wild as "ABBLE" and current production runs are "LBBLE". While complete understanding of this is unknown at this time, it is clear that this has something to do with early samples.

CCBBE
2nd letter: "core cache code"
A = single core, 1MB
B = single core, 512KB
C = dual core, 1MB (each)
D = dual core, 512MB (each)

Note: 'Toledo' cores (1MB) with half the cache disabled will still be coded as "C". Therefore, you can see earlie 4600+ samples as ACXXX with only 512KB per core enabled.

CCBBE
3rd and 4th letters/numbers: "memory controller revision"
Works like a counter using all letter of the alphabet and digits 1-9. 3rd letter increments when running though all available 'steppings' as noted by the 4th letter.

CCBBE
5th letter: "revision code"
C = rev C (as in CG Clawhammers)
D = rev D (as in D0 for CBBID chips....)
E = rev E (as in the rev E 'San Diego' core)

0530, 0534, 0550, 0551, 0606, 0607, 0608, 1610 etc. etc. etc.
Simple,
the first 2 numbers (0610) are the year the CPU was made
the second 2 numbers (0610) are the week of that year that the CPU was produced (hence the highest it could ever be is 52)

MPMW, UPMW, VPMW, DPMW etc. etc.
These are some kind of packing code, it is beleived that the first letter (DPMW) has to do with the day the CPU was made, the details are still unknown.

Single Core Socket 939 Opterons 90NM :

Opteron 100-series "Venus" (standard-power, 90 nm)

*All models support: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, Enhanced 3DNow!, NX bit, AMD64 (AMD's x86-64 implementation)

Opteron 100 Series Overclocking Stepping average Info ( Single Core )

CABNE 0539: and before were great overclockers ~3.0ghz+

CABNE 0540: and after haven't been that great but still not bad ~2.8ghz

CABYE 0539: and before not to bad ~2.8ghz

CABYE 0540: and after great oc'ers ~3.0ghz+

CABGE: All weeks not the greatest 2.6-2.7 at high voltage

CAB2E: All weeks are hitting about 3.0ghz+ except the 0546 FPDW, which has never been seen above 2.8ghz, even at 1.6v.

CACJE: from 2006 have also been doing pretty well, 2.9ghz+ on relatively low voltage and air cooling.

CAB1E 0614: and anything else that happens to come out, 2.9+ stock/low voltage.

Dual Core Socket 939 Opterons 90NM:

Opteron 100-series "Denmark" (90 nm)

The Opteron 185 Dual core has been left out as i cant find the best stepping average for this CPU at current.

If people have New steppings to add for the Opteron 100 series both for Single and Dual core then send me a PM and ill add it with your average or maximum overclock and put your Username by it.

A brief explanation:

1st letter= production release C is for current

2nd letter= A = single core, 1MB; B = single core, 512KB; C = dual core, 1MB (each); D = dual core, 512MB (each)

3rd & 4th letter= memory control revision such as;
FX-55: XXA2X
FX-57: XXBNX
FX-57 (new stepping)/FX-60: XXB2X
3700+ (new stepping): XXB3X
Opteron 165/170:XXBWX, XXB1X, XXBBX

5th letter= is the revision code, like the E is refering to the San Diego Core

CCBWE 0530TPMW -> most of them cant quite hit 3ghz, more like 2.9-2.95.
CCBWE 0546XPMW -> OK stepping, 2.85-2.9ghz average
CCBWE 0609FPAW -> Do not confuse with the CCB1E 0609FPAW, which is a better CPU. This CCBWE version seems to be a 2.9ghz average.

I've been having good luck with my 150, I can hit it with a 12X, 11X and 10X..I'll try 9X next..I really need to get a Lanparty board for it, if I can hit 3100 with it on this mobo I probably will...It's burning in pretty good, I'm having to use less V-Core and have been able to tighten the timings some...

Ok.. LCB9E isnt as bad as people say.i was praying i wouldnt get LCB9E after i ordered from newegg.. Ive seen reviews saying it wouldnt go past 1.9ghz.. BUy yea right.. Pushing 2.8 max!

I am hitting 2.8+ on my LCB9E 0652 WPMW, its at 1.4v right now orthos stable 8+ hours http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=191042 . Mootfox and The Duke are also getting good clocks out of there LCB9Es. I think their at least better than most CCBWEs.

Edit: LCB9E 0652 WPMW http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=193096 at 1.4v. Idle is 36c load is 52c for 1hour in Orthos. The LCB9E are turning out real good, even at lower voltage.

Great thread.. well the person mine from said this cpu does 2.7 on stock volts.
Yesterday I tried 1 of the saved CMOS and it was 2950mhz hehe but I dont want to try using the pc a lot because i have bad HSF not even the opty 165 stock one =\ so I'm here looking for a new HSF

Well If I was to reccomend a cooler that im sure will help you would be the Thermalright 120 with a good 90CFM Or above 120mm fan.
